For all those Americans who don't understand why it is so important to us Brits who sits in the Whitehouse: "The Sun" newspaper today. Quote" Millions of Brits faced a grim outlook last night after America's fourth biggest Investment bank Lehman Brothers went bust. The shockwaves sent share prices plummeting in London & experts warned that pension funds & people's ability to get loans & mortgages will be hit. There were fears of more crippling economic damage to come as Manchester Untited Shirt sponsers, the insurence giant, AIG, looked in danger of collapsing. Last night Lehman's 5,000 british workers were facing the sack-- with little prospect of getting redundancy money or pay this friday.
The facts. £342bn-- Lehman's total debts at the end of may.
£24bn-- injected by European Central bank yesterday.
£5bn-- bailout by Bank of England yesterday.
What exactly is it you are going to "Change" Obama, because we haven't heard it yet??
Gordon Brown can ---- our country up all by himself thankyou very much. He doesn't need your help.

I am hoping Obama wins even if his resume is a little weak. He has Joe Biden to help. Joe gave a terrific speech on 9/15/08. I truly think McClain is using Sarah Palin to help him win the election and afterwards will drop her like a hot potato. He is a quiet reserved sort of person and his wife is of no help in that area. So along comes Palin, a pit bull in lipstick(her words) speaking out, waving her arms, saying anything to get attention. I realize this is not acceptible but I read in Time that she was two months pregnant when she got married. I have not seen anything about her personal background before she became a mayor. A soccer mom does not help much in the White House. She could be very helpful with the Easter egg roll. I thought she was catholic from references to her beliefs. Found out she was pentecost before she joined the church she is now in, which is a part of the pentecost religion. Long hair and only dresses on women is one of their beliefs. Surprized at the lipstick and earrings. Oh well, enough said, enough to get me in hot water. :-5

Thank you Bridget for just summing up what is so "real" about Palin. Total fake in my book and she ain't getting my vote. Can't wait to see her against Biden in the VP debate. I'd like to see that glib smile of hers wiped off her face.

I voted for Hillary, but I'm fine with the fact that she is not VP although she will still be in the Senate and can make a huge difference. And if Obama/Biden lose, Biden will also still be in the Senate. 2 more Dems in office. Maybe, we will see a difference then and knock McCain off his arse.

All Obama has to do is simply suggest that Hillary would be his Secretary of State if he wins and Sarah would be history. I really think Hillary would make a very good Secretary of State. When she wants to she can be very charming, and is very smart. I think Hillary still has a great following of the women that have gone over to Sarah. :sneaky:

Is it just me, but i find the choice of running mate slightly more than the politics. Did Obama pick experience in Biden as he is so young & McCain pick Palin because he is so old? I hate to say this but their is a possibility of some nutter picking off Obama due to his campaign trail resembling MLK & McCain must surely know that he's likely to die in office. Sorry folks, just being real here. I find it unsettling that so many are looking to the running mates as running the country instead of the candidate. A possible preminition??

Going back to work 3 days after the birth of her SPECIAL NEEDS son
doesn't bother me as much as having gone to Texas at 8 months
along and then flying back to Alaska after her water broke. Irresponsible,
at best.
As to her husband being a stay at home dad, not sure if that's true.
Certainly working in the oil fields, depending on how far away they
are, wouldn't let him be home much. And a commercial fisherman can
be out on the high seas for weeks at a time.
By the way, McCain's mom may be 90 but his dad was 70 when he died
and his grandfather was 61. And McCain suffered an awful lot of
trauma as a POW that can show up years later.
