I can't tell you what a miracle this is folks.. I spent 22 years working in a hospital and had a temporary office in our REHAB center, I saw way to many motorcycle accidents victims that for the most part never were the same again. :(

THIS IS SOOOOOO AMAZING THAT I'M CRYING, AND SMILING AT THE SAME TIME. BR WILL DO JUST GREAT AT THIS PACE SHE WILL BE HOME IN NO TIME.. !!

She is doing well, which is what we are hoping for. But she has a long road ahead, and will need alot of support from friends and family, of course.

I just Googled Traumatic Brain Injury. Got alot of interesting hits on it. Br's is on the milder end of the spectrum, which is good. If you want more info, just check any of the sites that come up. Especially from the CDC

I've been away for a week and off line. I popped into FG this morning - only had a few minutes then - and got vibes that something was wrong and asked for information. Thankyou to the FGers who filled me in. I'm totally devastated.

Thanks Floppy. I got a nice card to send this afternoon and will make a flower and enclose that too. I have her hospital address but as I'll be mailing this from Australia, I'd like to put her Mom's address on the envelope too, in the optimistic hope she'll be discharged within the week to ten days airmail to the US seems to take. Could someone please pm that to me?

We're all making flowers to send her for her wall in her small hospital room.. we just got on that today, so you are not behind us at all...break out the glue and crayons...:D

I am not going to cut and paste paper flowers so cuddles can tape them on her hospital wall. Mines going to be leather.

"I think that is a good thing for a mother to know about her kid.."

++++++++++++ Trying to look for more positives here, and this sentence gave me the thought that this accident, horrible as it is, will bring Criss and her family even closer. I'm glad they'll all learn how much impact she has outside her "real" life and I'm hoping they'll come to a new appreciation for one another.

Jr Minks and I picked up fun foam ya know that colorful flat foam stuff that comes in sheets, nice and light and easy to hang on a wall, easy and cheap to mail, we got some funky colors

I thinke everyone ought to photograph their flowers before they send them off and we will open up a "Criss's garden" thread and post the pics there as well.

yes go for it I say do whatever you can and have a ball, anything we send to miss BR is going to send her spirit over the moon. I just hope when it's all decorated we get pics of her room. (we will be ok if BR is not in the pic we respect her privacy) I hope she won't mind though if we send a news crew in to take pics of all the FG art ahahahahaha:wah:

If someone could get 1 or 2 CORK boards to her room, the flowers could be pinned on and then she could take them home with her

When I was looking at cards to send, I only looked at flower cards. A pretty theme for our pretty BR.:)

I was going to suggest this too! It'll look great with so many different styles and deigns!

And Bez's & Floppys corkboard ideas are FAB! That way we won't mess up their nice walls with tons of tape. She's gonna need quite a few though for all her cards AND her flowers! :wah:

Isn't it great how this idea is just rolling and improving with every post? You guys are all so great to know! I'm so glad to be part of your group! ;)

I confess that I got a joke card. But it takes ages to send mail across the pond unless I pay a lot extra. I did this for the card. But I thought the lilies were nice and hoped that someone might be able to print them for BR when the idea came up. At the rate she's recovering, she'll be out of hospital before my flowers got there if I posted from here.:-6

I'm so glad she's doing much better! :)

As for being so far from the nurses station, I can tell you that is probably a good thing. They can get so noisy, with talking and banging and such. It'll be a lot quieter where she is and she'll sleep better.

You might tell Mamarider to get some twine or string and run it from one side of the wall to the other and she can hang the cards on it. If she starts it on the wall from BR's feet and brings it to the wall behind her head, she may be able to see the cards better. Just keep it above head level so no one runs into it.

Tape may not adhere to the wall very well. There are these glue dots out that work pretty well. One brand is called "Dots". They should come off the wall fairly well but probably not from the cards. They are sort of like that sticky stuff that is on the back of a credit card you might get in the mail that is stuck to the letter. You know what I mean? Anyway, you can try the tape and if it doesn't work you can try those. You can get them at a scrapbooking place or an arts and crafts place.

Don't forget the hand and foot lotion. Hospitals can be so dry.

Kisses
When choosing between two evils, I always like to take the one I've never tried before.
