Rudolph was not one of the original eight.
Besides, in the poem, there is no mention of antlers.
On another note, only two of those names actually appear to be feminine. Maybe three, but then my nephew says that he thinks Prancer 'liked Pink'.

Are you serious? His primary policy is focused on rallying hatred against others based on Race & Religion. To promote more & more benefits for the richest 1% at the cost of the poorest masses. A supporter of the Ku Klux Klan. The next step for this lunatic is to set about building railway yards for the cattle trucks. He couldn't be any more right wing.

I was looking up crashes of Tupolev 154s while starting the Sochi crash thread.
This bit caught my eye, from Greece in 2000:During the approach the crew had failed to deploy the undercarriage. This was noted by the tower controller, who instructed the flight to go around. A go around was initiated, but the crew was not able to arrest the high descent rate. At 13:57 UTC the underside of the fuselage touched the runway, the airframe and inboard flaps sustaining substantial damage. The airplane became airborne again and entered a holding pattern while debris was removed from the runway. A safe landing was carried out at 14:13 UTC.

I'm reeding a book and came across a word I didn't understand. On page 9.
Semester.
I looked it up: A period or term of six months, esp. in German and U.S. universities and colleges, the college half-year.
I can think of no occasion in England where the word would have any application, or has ever been employed. Why on earth does anyone in England need a synonym for half-year?
Who in England ever measures anything at all by the half-year?

Funny that.............................."Reeding" is a noun defined as meaning " A small semi-cylindrical moulding or ornamentation."
I say funny because I knew semester was a period at school college or university, although I have never needed or cared to know the duration.
I had thought as word definition was your thing you ought to put an index of your personal language aberrations somewhere on the site......so we can all keep up.
I would have thought Reeding would be a Thatchers term.........you are not a thatcher are you ????

In Australia the government has made a rule that all children will be denied mainsteam education if they are not fully immunised/vacinated.
This morning on the news (television and national radio)that almost a thousand children have been denied medical attention in the last two years by doctors refusing to treat unimmunised children under the age of six.
What a nice old world we live in.

I'm wondering how else the Australian government can respond to people endangering childrens' lives beyond those they have parental responsibility for. An epidemic of a disease prevented by immunization would harm far more children than any vaccine might. Epidemics are a consequence of too low a level of mass immunization.
Presumably you'd not want these parents imprisoned, that would hinder the development of their children. Fining the parents would do the same. Taking the children into care would too. What sanction would you recommend? Just leaving it to a rational balance of risks allows selfish parents to choose to have their cake and eat it, throwing the vaccine risk onto everyone else in exchange for not paying either the vaccine risk or the infection risk themselves. The government is reducing the risk to society at large by imposing penalties on the dissenting families.

I'm 100% on Spot's side here. Let's not blame the children or the government. It was the parent's responsibility to get their children immunized. What kind of a parent cares so little about their child or is so ignorant that they would endanger other people's children?
The Spanish Flu killed 18 million. Trust me on this, the next plague is just around the corner. Mankind's entire defense is based on immunization.
Honestly, magentaflame, isn't your child protected? If you don't have one, but then had one, wouldn't you get them immunized? Why expect other parents to care less?

What you wrote was that "almost a thousand children have been denied medical attention in the last two years". There's no indication of whether this was routine checkups, emergency interventions, life-or-death treatment or even whether any of the children were adversely affected. No hint of whether other unvaccinated children were treated because of the severity of their problem, or any vaccinated children were also refused medical attention. It's a very vague report, it does need a lot more specifics to be informative.

The Ulstermen are called Orangemen too, after the head of the House of Orange, King Billy, William the Third, whose troops held Derry through the siege and kept Ireland British - that's where the traditional Protestant shout of "No surrender!" comes from. Then "William personally intervened to lead his armies to victory over James II at the Battle of the Boyne on 1 July 1690". The Skye Boat song was about James the Second's grandson Bonny Prince Charlie.
After all that, William of Orange countersigned the order for the Massacre of Glencoe two years later. He was therefore an unpleasant fellow and he was killed by a mole.
In 1702, William died of pneumonia, a complication from a broken collarbone following a fall from his horse, Sorrel. The horse had been confiscated from Sir John Fenwick, one of the Jacobites who had conspired against William. Because his horse had stumbled into a mole's burrow, many Jacobites toasted "the little gentleman in the black velvet waistcoat."
