Hello my friends!

Well, it's July 4th here. Saturday. Hubby had to work today (sigh) but I will meet him for lunch later. Our company will give us holiday pay for today. Hubby will get holiday pay plus hours he worked today. Any extra money on the paycheck helps. ;)

Come sit beside us and let's watch some fireworks together. :)

:):-6 Hello, TM!! So nice of you to come visit me.

Here's another of my favorite "summer songs" for you.

YouTube - Summer Breeze Seals & Crofts 1972

It is early evening, and I hear distant thunder slowly moving in my direction. The trees are doing a little swaying in the wind. We may have one of those "pop-up storms" in a little while.

Pick atleast one day this summer to allow yourself to be a kid again. :)

:) Good for you, Odie!

I had been absent from the internet for two days as there was a problem with the ISP somewhere. I had called tech support and she said there was a temporary problem with the service in my area. It's good to be connected again.

The last few months, Hubby and I have been going out to eat with his sister and her hubby on Friday evenings. I've gotten where I look forward to these outings as they are almost like going on a double date. :wah:

Have you ever been on a double date?

Today we went to the Flea Market and after we came home, we had a fish fry. Hubby used his deep fryer outside in the back yard.

Below are two of my "flea market finds"....both were $1.00 each. One is a metal chicken-design pail and the other is a little glass chicken ornament.

The other photo is our fish fry........fish (ofcourse), hush puppies and fries. We also had cole slaw. Come............help yourself.............we have plenty. :)

Hush puppies are made from corn meal, eggs and water mixed together in a small bowl. Some folks put a little chopped onion in with the mix. Stir it real good, making sure it isn't too watery. Get youreself a good mediun-sized spoon, spoon out some and carefully drop into hot grease. When they are done, they will float to the surface. They are delicious with fried fish.........especially catfish.

In the "olden days", ladies would fix these and toss a few to the hungry pet dogs who would beg and dance around the fryer. That's why they are called "hush puppies". :wah:

Thank you, Jimbo.:)

My commute from work to home this afternoon was a little rough. Thunder, lightening, and heavy rain. Hubby was off from work today, so I drove by myself. I kept thinking, "Carry me home safely" to my car.............and she did. It was one of those times when I drive below the speed limit, both hands on the wheel, and steady. My drive is only 20 minutes with only three turns to work. Seems like a long time when the weather is rough. :wah:

So Hubby and I have been told at the Health Clinic at work, that we need to raise our low (good) cholesteral intake. I was wondering...............well what CAN we eat?

I found this website with some yummy sounding recipes and I thought I would share it with you all if you are interested. :)

There have several posts in the Garden lately about child abuse/neglect and animal abuse.

Bless the beasts and the children

For in this world they have no voice

They have no choice

Bless the beasts and the children

For the world can never be

The world they see

Light their way

When the darkness surrounds them

Give them love

Let it shine all around them

Bless the beasts and the children

Give them shelter from a storm

Keep them safe

Keep them warm

Light their way

When the darkness surrounds them

Give them love

Let it shine all around them

Bless the beasts and the children

Give them shelter from a storm

Keep them safe

Keep them warm

The children

AFTR's Daily Commute

Post by along-for-the-ride »

Yesterday evening was rainy off and on. Hubby and I were just about home after our dinner out, when suddenly he turned the truck around and made a U-turn. I looked at him, and he said, "There's some ducks walking along the side of the road." He stopped the truck along side the road and that's when I noticed them. Sure enough, there was a family of 6 ducks strolling dangerously close to the road. Hubby got out of the truck to try to herd them safely away from the road and they finally complied. I would have gotten out of the truck as well, but from the passenger side I was concerned the duck procession might go the wrong way into the road. Well, the last time we had a glimpse of the ducks, they were safley walking toward the woods and hopefully, a pond. Good luck, little duckies!

Good luck, little duckies!

they are so cute.

last year while on a side street, mom, dad and 6 babies were trying to cross the road...

-I got out of my car and stopped the traffic for them to cross safely.

mom lead them across the street, all babies walked after her, but the last little duck could not jump down from the curb...

-dad was so patient as he stood behind him.....it was so cute to see him finally jump off the curb...walk across the street.....jump up again on the curb..........and dad following.

The drivers were all in awwwwwwwwwww!:-4

AFTR's Daily Commute

Post by along-for-the-ride »

Hey, Odie. We human beings CAN be kind to animals. :)

To me, there is something exciting about an impending storm as long as we are safe at home. I took these photos from my front yard late Friday afternoon (before the duck incident :wah:). "The bark was worse than the bite." The storm turned out to be not as bad as it looked like it would be.

AFTR's Daily Commute

Post by along-for-the-ride »

"I was having a good sleep

in my car

In the, parking lot of the

Showboat Casino hotel (Never been there) :D

I say, "I remember you

you drive like a PTA mother" (???)

You brought me draft beer

in a plastic cup

I'm feeling thankful

for the small things, today

I'm feeling thankful

for the small things, today (Now this is true)

Happy, Happy Birthday to me

Happy Birthday to me

and to you

Happy, Happy Birthday to me

Happy Birthday to me

and to you-ah

I'm feeling thankful

for the small things, today

I'm feeling thankful

for the small things, today

I remember you

I crashed your wedding (Never happened) :D

With some, orange crepe paper

and some Halloween candy

A sometimes

I wish I were Catholic (I am Catholic) ;)

I don't know why

I guess I'm happy to see your face

at a time like this

Happy, Happy Birthday to me

Happy Birthday to me

and to you-ah

Happy, Happy Birthday to me

Happy Birthday to me

and to you-ah

Happy Birthday baby, to me

Happy Birthday, to me

Happy Birthday, to me

Happy Birthday, to me"

Found this poem on the net today. I had to add my own edits...as you can see.

Just gotta a phone call from my sister. It's always nice to chat with her. :)

I thought a Birthday is a good day to pull out the ole photo album again and look at some old photos of other birthdays.

My son advised me to get a Facebook account. I did just that. If you have an account there and wish to contact me, PM me, and I will give you my RL name. :wah:

My grandchildren called me the other evening to wish me a happy birthday. I really enjoyed chatting with them. That was the first time I actually had a conversation with my youngest granchild, who is only three years old. Really special. :-4
