In the Down Under, Gramma's are called Nana JAB. First thing I learned when I visited there. It's an Aussie thing. :-4 and a cute one too.

That's also very Irish Sunshine. We called my grandmother "Nana" Many Irish immigrated or were sent to prison to Oz.

All my collegaues asked me what I wanted to be called as a grandmother. I said Nana, like my great-grandmother. (who was Irish) I think it is a lovely way to be called. :-4

I didn't know that. I mean about the Irish Grandmas being called Nana.

That's true Kaz, but it's so sad when friends in FG drift into and out of your life leaving only memories behind.

My hubs family called his grandma Nana and his mom went by the same name only he couldn't stand it and insisted that our kids call her plain old Grandmom. Now on my side of the fam., the kids call my parents by their first name. Just plain old Jim & Pidge.
