Hello All,

Yes I'm still at Wells-next-the-sea, I've been chillin a bit while Chris and Andy are busy doing repairs to our VVVVVPBH ! Well I say 'and Andy' but apparently there's only work for one to do, till the repaint later in the year, so Andy is on the beach flying his very talented kite - but he insists that it is he who is the talented pilot (if that's the right word for the flyer). Actually this kiting lark is more complicated and demanding than just a kid with a single line 'kiddy kite'. The wind was pretty strong yesterday and a fella in his early 30s was 'fighting' his 'parakite' (bit like the modern freefall parachutes), it was quite a big kite and kept dragging him across the sand. We were waiting in anticipation that he would be dragged into the sea, but he was a spoil sport and 'spilled the wind' to stop that event ! Grrrrrrrrrrr

Hope you are all OK and enjoying the better weather.

Helen I sent a reply to your PM.

Carol, Joan, Kaz and Helen I'm just going to read the thread, I'll try to get back before my time is up.

xxx :-6

All you others that I haven't mentioned, I'm sorry, didn't mean to be rude but I won't know who's posted till I've read the latest ones.

Well I think I've caught up.

Hi Lasgo, and Betty, and Kay - keep on truckin our Kay (don't know how the grandparents appear to be able to see their grandchild if it was taken away because of their abuse towards it

Joan I love your poems, I shall read them again when get home and have more time.

Kaz I'm so glad you're feeling a bit more cheerful. You did seem very down the other day.

Helen I think it will take several days for a new card and 'pin' to arrive. Andy had trouble cos the 'hole-in-the-wall' swallowed his card, and there was no reason for it to do that. His card arrived the day before we came on holiday but the new 'pin' didn't arrive till after we'd left, so he had to get our 'house checker' to ring the number through - then Andy changed it at the hole-in-the-wall next time he went. Such a bloody palaver and it wasn't his fault either. :-5

Carol, have you stopped galivanting yet Mrs Posh ?

Don't arf miss you lot. Still I should be OK Tuesday night, after I've up-dated all me security 'updates' that have accumulated since the beginning of August ! Gawd that seems years ago

Sorry nobody's here at the moment, but my time is nearly up - another 5 mins or so. Doubt I will be able to get another hour as it's so busy in here. :(

hello everyone:-6

Hope you all had a good day xxxxxxxx

My dad has to stay in hospital for a while longer. they want to do another scan on his neck, apparently they said they thought they could see something in an artery in his neck, a blockage or a furring. Anyway once they have done that the surgeon will decide if they can operate or not. My brother asked what happens if they dont operate and the nurse answered well he has 3 other perfectly good arteries in his neck!!! That didnt stop him having strokes though did it??? He does seem a bit more himself though even though his balance and co-ordination are still bad, and i must admit everytime we go visit him, we get him in a wheelchair and take him outside for a smoke:o I know its bad, but i feel so sorry for him being stuck in there and he leterally only gets a smoke when we take him out at visiting. We do have to ask the ward sister and she usually says yes.

i had quite an un-productive day at work today, but im now on to my third G&T so woo hoo,,, i feel good na na na na na na na:wah:

hi kaz,

just thought i'd tell you my mum in law had this op done on both sides of her neck, the last one being last year, although she wasnt in the same positon as your dad with the stroke, it was only a matter of time before she had one if the ops wernt done. she was 80 a couple of weeks ago and has recovered very well and the scars are barely noticable. hope that helps a bit.:)

not a very good morning for me so far, my friend who's got my cat had one of her horses poisened yesterday. she's in the process of having her buried as i post. dont know what it was yet, waiting for vets report.

she rescued her in the first place as she had been stabbed. needless to say she's inconsolable right now and if that wasnt enough, she also had her very elderly cat put to sleep last night too.

see you all later. xx

A wonderful dog story . . .

Anyone who has pets will really like this. You'll like it even if you don't and may decide you need one.

Mary and her husband Jim had a dog, Lucky. Lucky was a real character. Whenever Mary and Jim had company come for a weekend visit they would warn their friends to not leave their luggage open because Lucky would help himself to whatever struck his fancy. Inevitably, someone would forget and something would come up missing.

Mary or Jim would go to Lucky's toy box in the basement and there the treasure would be, amid all of Lucky's favorite toys. Lucky always stashed his finds in his toy box and he was very particular that his toys stay in the box.

It happened that Mary found out she had breast cancer. Something told her she was going to die of this disease, she was just sure it was fatal. She scheduled the double mastectomy, fear riding her shoulders.

The night before she was to go to the hospital she cuddled with Lucky. A thought struck her...what would happen to Lucky?

Although the three-year-old dog liked Jim, he was Mary's dog through and through. If I die, Lucky will be abandoned, Mary thought. He won't understand that I didn't want to leave him. The thought made her sadder than thinking of her own death.

The double mastectomy was harder on Mary than her doctors had anticipated and Mary was hospitalized for over two weeks. Jim took Lucky for his evening walk faithfully, but the little dog just drooped, whining and miserable.

Finally the day came for Mary to leave the hospital. When she arrived home, Mary was so exhausted she couldn't even make it up the steps to her bedroom. Jim made his wife comfortable on the couch and left her to nap.

Lucky stood watching Mary but he didn't come to her when she called. It made Mary sad but sleep soon overcame her and she dozed. When Mary woke for a second she couldn't understand what was wrong. She couldn't move her head and her body felt heavy and hot. But panic soon gave way to laughter when Mary realized the problem.

She was covered, literally blanketed, with every treasure Lucky owned!

While she had slept, the sorrowing dog had made trip after trip to the basement bringing his beloved mistress all his favorite things in life. He had covered her with his love.

Mary forgot about dying. Instead she and Lucky began living again, walking further and further together every night.

It's been 12 years now and Mary is still cancer-free. Lucky? He still steals treasures and stashes them in his toy box but Mary remains his greatest treasure.

Live everyday to the fullest. Remember it is a blessing from God.

The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most Awards.

....They're the ones who care.

"Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle."

Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply.

The person who did

this was Jack Benny..

You have to read this it is absolutely beautiful......

Each year he sent her roses,

And the note would always say,

I love you even more this year,

Than last year on this day.

My love for you will always grow,

With every passing year."

She knew this was the last time

That the roses would appear.

She thought, he ordered roses

In advance before this day.

Her loving husband did not know,

That he would pass away.

He always

liked to do things early,

Way before the time.

Then, if he got too busy,

Everything would work out fine.

She trimmed the stems and

Placed them in a very special vase.

Then, sat the vase beside

The portrait of his smiling face.

She would sit for hours,

In her husband's favorite chair.

While staring at his picture,

And the roses sitting there.

A year went by, and it was

To live without her mate.

With loneliness and solitude,

That had become her fate.

Then, the very hour,

The doorbell rang, and there

Were roses sitting by her door.

She brought the roses in,

And then just looked at them in shock.

Then, went to get the telephone,

To call the florist shop.

The owner answered, and she asked him,

If he would explain, Why would someone would

do this to her, causing her such pain?

"I know your husband passed away,

More than a year ago,"

The owner said,

"I knew you'd call, and you would want to know."

The flowers you received today,

Were paid for in advance.

Your husband always planned ahead,

He left nothing to chance.

There is a standing order,

That I have on file down here,

And he has paid, well in advance,

You'll get them every year

There also is another thing,

That I think you should know,

He wrote a special little card...he did this years ago.

Then, should ever I find out that he's no longer here,

that's the card that should be sent to you the following year."

She thanked him and hung up the phone, her tears now flowing hard.

Her fingers shaking,

As she slowly reached to get the card.

Inside the card, she saw that he

Had written her a

note.

Then, as she stared in total silence,

This is what he wrote..

"Hello my love, I know it's been a year

Since I've been gone.

I hope it hasn't been too hard for you to

Overcome.

I know it must be lonely,

And the pain is very real.

Or if

it was the other way,

I know how I would feel.

The love we shared made everything

So beautiful in life.

I loved you more than words can say,

You were the perfect wife.

You were my friend and lover,

You fulfilled my every need.

I know it's only been a year,

But please try not to grieve.

I want you to be happy,

Even when you shed your tears.

That is why the roses will be sent to you for years

When you get these roses,

Think of all the happiness that we had together,

And how both of us were blessed.

I have always loved you and

I know I always will.

But, my love, you must go on,

You have some living still.

Please...try to find happiness,

While living out your days.

I know it is not easy,

But I hope you find some ways.

The roses will come every year,

And they will only stop,

When your door's not answered,

When the florist stops to knock.

He will come five times that day,

In case! You have gone out.

But after his last visit,

He will know without a doubt!

To take the roses to the place,

Where I've instructed him

And place the roses where we are,

Together once again.

Sometimes in life, you find a special friend;

Someone who changes your life

Just by being part of it.

Someone who

makes you laugh

Until you can't stop;

Someone who makes you believe

That there really is good in the world.

Someone who convinces you

That there really is an unlocked door

Just

waiting for you to open it.

Hello everybody !

Yes I'm still here at Wells !!!!! As has been said earlier, there was a F... up on the site and we had to move to another pitch - that took a while to sort out and I consequently missed me library visit yesterday :-1 Cos the place was only open till 1 pm.

What nice words from you all - some sad, some amazing and inspiring !

I bet I've missed you gang yet again, it's a pity that MSN is blocked to me however I try to get there. Also Skype, but maybe the chat area on here will be gettable !!! Grrrrrr - not keen on that one really, but any port in a storm !

Carol, hope you get things sorted love, and don't forget you've got some good mates on here - most of them have big ears so you can bend them OK :-4

Kaz I'm glad you feel more positive about things, must be very worrying for you though. I'm thinking of you and your family :-4

Helen thanks for your 'welcome back' - bless, I'll read it again when I get home ! Did you play darts last night ?

Kay - hope you survive the party etc. best of luck to you anyway, see you soon !

Like Joan, there are so many people coming on this thread now, thank goodness, so it would be like a roll call ! So I'll just say hi to you all and hope you have a good day ! :-6
