Hi mrsK, I tell you, I really was so pissed off about that ticket ! The police never came to help us when we had gangs milling about causing problems and worry, well not till the yobs had dispersed long since, so there was nothing for the cops to bloody do. It went through a patch of happening every weekend sort of three nights running for weeks - drove us barmy. My son was very near to going out and confronting them all with a sword ffs. One evening there was a mob of them messing near our cars, we saw on our cctv monitor that they had baseball bats and we rang the police and went out, the three of us against about 20 odd. We stood in our front garden. Hubby Chris had a 'riot stick' behind his back, so did I. Andy had a sword behind his back. At that time we did not have a dog - Rex our German Shepherd came later!
When we first went out into the front garden, we realised that most of them had Halloween type masks on, so there was no way we would recognise them. One of them said they had just dealt with a visiting gang from another area, and you could see they were all 'hyped up'. It was a very frightening situation. Some reading this would question why we went out like that - well we thought that they were about to roll our Reliants again, or smash car windows, or even our house windows, or our neighbour's, and we'd had enough and somebody had to make a stand against these gangs ! We told them that the police were on their way and they would probably come mob-handed because they had been told about the baseball bats and masks. That information produced a lot of jeering and abuse.
There was a sort of stand-off situation, and one or two of them challenged my son to come out and try to sort them out, and they were shouting abuse and trying to intimidate us. After what seemed ages, some at the back decided they were going to go, so there were only about half of them left. They threw some more abusive words in our direction but were sensible enough not to venture onto our property, nor did they touch our vehicles. They drifted off.
About 7 or 8 minutes later two police cars tore round the corner into our road --- too late of course. We had disposed of our weapons by then, and we told the police the direction they had gone, and the police drove off looking for them. We never heard any more about that incident, so presumably the yobs were not found.
It seems that this sort of thing is commonplace in city areas, even on the outskirts - suburbs, like where we are. It is a frightening thought that today's feral youths are now ruling the streets, and people are just too frightened to even call the police. They just stay in their homes, lock the doors and keep their heads down, and hope they won't be the next targets. :(:-5:-5

Ahhhhh Thanks H...my last day was on Monday and have been partying a bit these last few days, now it's time to settle down and clean the house. I'm having tons of company this summer. How does your holiday work? We get a week off for Christmas and Easter and July and Aug off for the summer. I know:-6 we're very lucky but we don't get paid for summer hols. I have to save for that all year and skimp during the summer. But, it's worth it...yeeehaaaaa....
Geeze Gill....I'm so glad that you beat the ticket. That is so ridiculous. Gill, I am so sorry that you and family have to go through that nonsense. That's why we moved from the north to the south of NJ. Living in Jersey City as a kid was fabulous, but as an adult it was hell....very dangerous:-5 Love, love, love all your pics...thank you for posting them. Do you still sing and play the guitar. Geeze, I'd love to hear you.....do you have any songs of your band?
Kaza.....hunny:pThank you for posting pics of your caravan....WOW, it's beautiful and I understand why you love it there.
How far is it from home and is it near the beach or a lake? Woooohoooooo Kaz...
I posted some pics of the beach today in the PubNutters,...instead of cleaning I rode around town and sat on the beach for most of the day:D:-4

Hi Kathy ! I've only got a few audio tapes which were recorded at gigs, so not very brilliant quality I'm afraid. I've put them safe somewhere :wah: Oh I expect they will turn up when I'm looking for something else
I still play the guitar sometimes, but my voice has gone I'm afraid, which makes me very sad. I would have loved to have done a duet with Carol, something like 'No More Tears (Enough is Enough)' Barbra Streisand and Donna Summer !!! But I think the key would have had to be dropped a bit lower, certainly for my voice :wah:

Ahhhhh, that would have been lovely Gill...hearing you and Carol harmonize. My family and I sing together all the time. We don't have great voices but we love to play instruments and sing songs from all the eras and then it's onto the Irish songs. My brothers and I sing the song "Will ya go lassie go...." Our harmony is nice. And then members of the family will sing their personal songs.....I sing some Donegal songs...great craic indeed.

What A Rose Can Say
A rose can say I love you and want you to be mine,
A rose can say I thank you for being so very kind,
A rose can say congratulations, whatever the occasion may be,
A rose can say I miss you and wish you were here with me,
A rose can say I'm sorry if I've hurt you in any way,
A rose can say get well soon, May God bless you today,
A rose can say I wish you happiness, and the best for you each day.
A rose can say farewel when someone goes away,
A rose can say hello, I'm thinking of you today,
There's just so many wonderful things that a rose can say,
A rose can say goodbye when a love one is laid to rest,
No matter what there is to say, a rose can say it best.
Right Im off shopping and stuff ......hope to get back later;)

Hi Carol, so glad you had a good evening mate ! Your VVVVVVVPV sounds as if it is in a lovely spot. I must say I don't like being too crowded myself, when I'm in my caravan, we always try to get the same pitch each year, because it is in a larger area and we don't have tourers next to us in any direction, and we can spread out a bit :sneaky:
H, I do like your avatar, does a yellow rose mean friendship ?
Kaz, thanks for being concerned matey. I have been made to promise to stay indoors whatever is going on outside, by both Chris and Andy, if they are out - even with Rex in the house with me. At that time, we all felt that somebody should make a stand against these scum. Somebody had to show them that people are prepared to confront them, and they cannot get things their own way. However, you are quite right, there are too many innocent people being attacked just for trying to protect what is rightfully theres.
Well there is also the thought that these pratts just don't know who they are dealing with when they threaten and intimidate innocent people -- for instance my husband learnt unarmed combat while in the Navy, and Andy, well Andy is just a tallish well built guy who is very quick, nimble and strong and who won't back down if he feels he's in the right, or if he feels his parents are under threat. Me, well I am a black belt in Origami, so be afraid, be very afraid !!!
No I haven't heard anything from Helen yet. I'll send another text this evening.
Hi there CP, Hope, and Ducky !
Yes Hope, I miss Kay as well chuck, I hope she isn't being worked too hard and is able to take some time for leisure for herself and her daughter.
I will try to get on later this evening, but I've had an awful day, Chris is in London till Monday evening, so of course things hit fans, and I just have to deal with it as best as I can and walk on eggshells etc. Still I have to be grateful that things are quiet now, but I have to get some supper for us, so I might catch you later, take care !!
