I have a load of pics in my profile album, and I hope I can repeat some on here.......This one, however, is not actually in my album, at the moment!
Our Volvo Estate (that we had in 2007, next to our touring caravan with it's awning up. We'd not long arrived on the holiday caravan park! From L to R is Derek, my BIL, then his wife Jill, my sis-in-law, then Mary sitting down also my sis in law, the one who died at the end of last year. Then partly hidden by Jill is my son Andy. Also partly hidden (in blue shirt) is Mike, my BIL, husband of Mary. Then of course there is Rex, our German Shepherd lying down.

THE SAGA OF GILL'S FIXED PENALTY TICKET FOR OBSTRUCTION - 2008
Just over 3 months ago, one night around midnight, a very conscientious police officer saw my car, parked half on the pavement and half on a grass area beside this pavement. So I got a fixed penalty ticket for £30 for obstructing the pavement. I found the ticket the following morning ! (My Avatar shows my car parked in more or less the same position as when the PC saw it - except it was more on the grass when it was ticketed)
Now some of you are aware of all the hassle that we have had to endure around our house with the yobs that gather in large gangs and cause mischief, damage, noise, drunken behaviour and are generally very anti-social. Some of you are also aware that we have suffered 3 burglaries (one of which was in the afternoon when we went out to visit my dying mother in hospital - this was the last one and they trashed the house and terrified our dog causing her to have a stroke a few days later, and she was never the same again). Also some of you are aware that we have had car windows smashed (lost count), and my hubby's and also my son's Reliant Rialto three wheeler cars rolled over whilst parked outside our house. My son's Reliant was finally 'written off' by the insurance company ! We have also had a window put in by a root ball, as solid as concrete, being thrown by a yob who'd wrenched it from our next door neighbour's garden - it is as well that the curtains were closed, they smothered a lot of the force coming into the room!
All these incidents have been reported, logged, a crime number given for insurance purposes, but none of them have been successfully investigated (if they were ever investigated at all).
The numerous times we have personally pleaded at the local police station to have more patrols after dark - these produced a few days of effort that dwindled off to nothing once more, so police protection is zero.
The numerous times we have phoned the police to report anti-social and threatening behaviour by gangs of yobs, and the police turn up an hour later, or the following day !!!
We do not call the police unless we are really concerned for our personal safety, or that of neighbours, or the damaging of property ! The local police know this.
So when I get a fixed penalty ticket like that, it is understandable that I am going to go ape-siht, so is my hubby and so is my son!
When I'd calmed down a little, I had a good look at the ticket and it quoted the wrong avenue. Therefore I was not guilty 'as charged'. Yes it was a technicality, but the bloody copper should have got his evidence correct. I took photos of my car in the position as seen by this police officer, printed off a multimap aerial view of the roads in the area and pinpointed where the car was parked (illegally). hi-lighted the roads in question, and sent copies back with the ticket and a covering letter, to the Constabulary Ticket Office. I asked that, as the police officer had written incorrect evidence, the ticket should be cancelled.
Letters and communications went back and forth over a period of 3 months ! Finally I sent everything by registered post for the personal attention of the Chief Constable. Apparently it was then sent on to the Area Commander for our police area, and I received a letter a few days ago saying that the ticket was now cancelled ! Chris and I were quite prepared to go to court over this bloody ticket, as a matter of principle. We were totally confident that we would have had the case thrown out because we were not guilty AS CHARGED - in that the police officer had written down the wrong road name in error. This would not have been allowed in a court of law, and I think the police realised this (eventually) - it would have wasted everybody's time, and money. I think they were just trying to bully us into paying £30, but we were not going to do that!
At least the Chief Constable had a sight of most of the stuff that had happened to us, and that the police in our area are basically sterile, maybe things may change a little around here, for the better.
Dare I say that certainly in the last few weeks there have been no gangs mooching around in the evenings, so we have been enjoying a certain amount of peace
 :driving:

Dare I say that certainly in the last few weeks there have been no gangs mooching around in the evenings, so we have been enjoying a certain amount of peace
 :driving:

Oh I know what you mean Gill. We have neighbor's across the street, total dirtballs. And the locals don't do squat with them. Well, finally last week their dog that they would not leash up got killed and now they are boo-hooing. Sorry for the dog but not for them. The biggest pigs on the street.

Actually the stuff they get away with would make anyone hurl. Their is crap all over their yard, matttress's under their deck, trash in the yard, etc. at least 8 people not related to the owner live there. Complaints called into the locals get ignored. I finally had to tape their dog "off the leash" to get something done, but by that time, the dog had gotten hit by a car and died.
What pees me off is when the local zoning guy drives up and down the street and complains to my friend that "you have a trampoline" and every kid is on it. She had to take it down and meanwhile, trashy people across the street have one and nothing is done. I guess it doesn't hurt the owner that her deceased father worked for the borough.
Any input here would be more than welcome as the entire street is fed up with the "special treatment" the dirtballs are getting.:-5:-5

Well Ducks, I feel for you, as that is a neighbour. Our problems arrive from outside our area. None of them live around here ! Our neighbours are fine thank goodness Has anybody noticed the rats that have made their homes amongst their rubbish outside their house ? I do mean the four legged variety of course. You could get up a petition, collecting all the signatures of everybody on the street, and stand firm together. I'm sure that your local Health and Safety Dept. would be interested if they though there may be a rat infestation - very iffy for children in the locality !!!!!:sneaky:

Morning all:-6
Pleased you got you ticket sorted Gill.
Hope you are well & that everyone else is fit & well also:-6
What a load of crap you had to go through.
I got a ticket once for not having my brake light working.
I knew it was working because our car had just had a rego check & here you can't get your car registered if everything isn't in working order.
I wrote a letter to the commissioner for police told him what had happend the ticket was cancelled. As it should have been.
If you think you have been hard done by you have to stand up for yourself because no one else will:-4:-6
