To reach into the thousands is a great achievement it means you have made many friend's and hopfully new member's will look to you for guidance . I've seen many people come and go and shoot way past me ..i'm not bothered .. the number to me is not important surely it's the contribution and content that count( i like fluffy) No one person is bigger than FG ... in a ideal world we should all be seen as equal:)
Good points Pantz, as well as what BR put, freedom of choice, I hope that newbies and oldies alike take the post counts for what they are, and if they are deciding who to respond to or align with due to post count then they maybe should read into the persons posts further and judge then if they want to stick with reading quality or quantity.
Some posters may look "boring" to others if they post mostly fluff but if you come here to FG looking for substance, then you have to make an honest attempt to look into that further.
Don't judge a member by their post count :wah:

I have already posted my position on post counts early on in this thread. I don't read them as a status symbol, but I do check them for someone I haven't come across before. They can be useful, otherwise, they don't bother me. But if Chonsi goes, I would be very grieved to lose such a wonderful, inspiring, and caring member.

Chonsi...I haven't been upset at all and i know exactly what FG means to you..:-4
Clancy...I don't care what you and others keep saying about being 'NICE'.....it means being agreeable, kind, friendly, considerate etc. (according to THE LITTLE OXFORD DICTIONARY)...What's wrong with that ????

SnoozeControl wrote: There's nothing wrong with that (sorry for jumping in like this), I think we should all strive for that in life. However, I've noticed people being the Nice Nazis and going around trying to censor other members with comments like "be nice" or "here we go again." Its exhausting trying to predict what someone might, possibly, could maybe, on a bad day, take exception to. The snide little comments could just as easily be left off the boards and just kept as a thought. I'm trying to do my best in that regard.
I FULLY agree. I keep starting to type stuff all over and IM laike, Wait, that could be taken the wrong way. Im terrified to post anything sarcastic or witty around this place anymore.

USE SMILEYS!!! It is a shame that we have to be so concerned that what we are saying, when meant in jest will be taken as a jab. There is still some tension here, but not anything like it was, and I for one, think everyone is doing their best to be understanding and bring peace back to the Garden.
If someone posts something you are taken aback by, just PM them and say, "Could you explain what you menat by that?" It doesn't have to be nasty when you're asking for clarification. Don't stop being yourselves. Because I happen to like yourselves, just as they are, (well, most of you anyway... :yh_bigsmi ) and I am so happy with everyone getting it all out, getting the bad $h!t aired away and trying to all get along.

For me its doens't matter a tinkers damn one way or the other but I do feel post count go with the territory called forums.

the higher the post count the more people online chatting, the more people on line chatting the less time they are out there spending money on beef, less money spent on beef means lower revenue, lower revenue generates higher prices to compensate....
got it

And on a more serious note.... please let's keep the post counts. We've had enough change in here right now to last me personally quite a while. Time we moved on, IMHO, and - taking into account what all of us have learned over the past weeks - got back to debating current issues and all the usual stuff we get up to, being our abnormal, outrageous, colourful and fearless selves.

I reckon everything you post has substance BR !! I mean that. You've always been a tower of strength too. There's a lot of different kinds of substance - and not all substance involves debating current issues. Substance of any kind requires actual thought - not just nice noises. That's what I meant.
On my way back from a meeting I heard on my car radio a song by Fat Boy Slim - and I thought of all of us, FGers, as I listened. Here's the first verse. And I mean it inclusively of the whole bloody motley crew lot of us!
You've come a long way Baby
Through the bad times and the good
I want to celebrate you Baby
I want to praise you like I should !!!
And we have - come a long way !!!!
(By my definition - this post cost me actual thought and therefore has substance.. grin.)

Don't be like that Waltzing Matilda!!! Any forum has occasional ructions, and you've happened upon a regrouping time. In a way, this is a good time to join us all. Everyone's done a bit of personal spring cleaning, and we're starting to do kangaroo hops all over the Garden once again. Grin..
