this is some POWERFUL stuff, and delicious too! SWEDISH Glogg Recipe

Ingredients:

2 bottles wine (Port, Sherry, Claret, Burgundy or Madeira

Insert cheesecloth bag containing:

2 oz. dried orange peel

2 oz. cinnamon sticks

20 Cardamom seeds

25 whole cloves

(add later)

1 lb. blanched almonds

1 lb. seedless raisins

(much later)

1 lb. lump sugar

1 fifth Brandy



Directions:

Boil slowly for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the blanched almonds and seedless raisins and continue to boil for additional 15 minutes. Remove kettle from stove and place wire grill containing 1 lb. lump sugar over opening. Pour the brandy over sugar making sure to saturate all of it. Then light sugar with match and let it flame. After sugar has melted replace kettle cover to extinguish flame. Stir againa and remove spice bag. Serve hot in punch cups with a few almonds and raising.



Be VERY careful when lighting the brandy soaked sugar!

ah, mulled wine! We get little sachets over here that you put in the pan and simmer with the wine. Always smells a bit dentisty to me.

prison homemade glogg...better known as buck or jack...put hoarded fruit, sugar, jelly, ketchup in plastic trash bag with water. let it ferment for a looooong time. :yh_sick cheers!

I don't suppose anyone still does 'Secret Santa??' I used to and although it was difficult, the smiles on the faces were so great to see, once they found out what I had got them.

Gosh! Havent done that for ages! Usually did that at work! It was awful fun tho!

We do Chris! We do it here at school! All thestaff gets lots of presents-from warm clothing items, to fun stuff. We stash them in the kids lockers the night before-and that special day when they come to school and open up their lockers for school, it is so nice. Us teachers are so happy that day, with happy kids.

Oh wow that is such a great idea Chonsi, I can just imagine how happy the kids must be when they open up their locker and see what they have. If we had that at my old school, then sadly all it would lead to is a fight, where everyone wants what someone else got, and aren't happy with their own present.



Perhaps we can do a FG secret santa, hahaha that would be fun!! :wah:

Yep we should try and organise a secret santa, that would be great fun. I guess we would need to make pairs of people who want to do it, and then PM that person with the gift that u choose for them. Something like that.

Christmas baskets, you know the premade jobs. Some are savory, with processed meat, crackers cheese, some are coffee and tea packed with cookies and bits, some are pure sugar, candy, chocolate, hot choco mix etc. Who gives those? Who gets those? Who likes those? (I like the sweet and coffee ones but not the savory ones) I find some of the bits and pieces to be absolutely yummy. I found from one I received a new coffee flavor I die for, choco raspberry.
