I'm afraid that you can't make people 'friendly' or 'polite', it is in their upbringing. It is how they are, and they see no wrong in it. They probably don't realise they are doing it anyway. It would not do for us all to be the same, because life would be so boring. However, good manners don't cost anything. It is noticeable that quite a few of the 'nicer' members have moved on, and it does beg the question 'why?'

I know that some have got involved with their own sites, and just haven't got the time to post in all the threads they have been involved in. I know that some have been upset by something that has gone on on this site, and I also know that some have been targetted by certain other members or member because of things that have been said on a 'debate' thread - for heaven's sake it is a debate thread, where you put your own views and opinions in order to debate, and if somebody doesn't agree, they put their side of the argument in such a way so as not to be offensive or belittling, or arrogant - that is the civilised way of doing things ! Unfortunately some people are so up themselves that they have no idea how to put their point over without being offensive or belittling, and it seems to be the male gender that are guilty of this, and against the female ! That begs another question --- what is their problem ? Don't they like women ? Yes I have been reading some of the debating threads and I have noticed this, and it seems that there is nothing anybody can do to bring these people into line, to behave more politely.

But there are some people on this site who are just plain 'ignorant'. You just don't know who the people are really, that you talk with, they are all behind a screen - very anonymous. Their profiles have no photos, no country, absolutely no information at all ! So those people should not be surprised that other members on the site treat them with a little suspicion, and this is understandable.

These people may want to remain anonymous for various reasons - perhaps they are in business and want to keep their private activities private. Perhaps they are even celebrities who need to enjoy the life of an 'ordinary' person for a change. Who knows? That is their choice.

However, it would be nice if more people on this site were a little more friendly and joined in more with more members. Just to say 'I agree' or 'I liked that' or just 'Hi' on a thread, then the original poster knows that people are at least reacting to the original post !

When I came to FG it was mainly for this thread, now and then I go on other threads so I enjoy coming here and I wont leave or go to any other Forum. I think most forum start off good and when a lot of people join you will find the same problems.

Just wanted you to know ,Carolly,that I had to work today (yeah, Memorial Day:-5) so I didn't get to read your post til about 4:30 pm.....my time. I did read your poem in this thread and it did make me feel good....as a woman. Thanks. I will freeze the cake for you til you can enjoy it.

hi everyone,

i did manage to get as far as getting on here tonight then got called downstairs before i had a chance to post anything :-5

we've been unusually busy for a bank holiday monday, by lunch time everyone is normally on their way back home but i think the rotton day, weather wise, we had kept a lot of them off the roads, there were several accidents and a six mile tail back of standing traffic on part of the main holiday route out of here so you cant blame people for not wanting to get involved in that !!

i will have a shot at reading back tomorrow but its 11-35pm here, the rain is coming down in bucket loads and i had another bad night last night

got some really strong pain killers ( i ought to put some in the post for you carol ) and i woke up this morning like i'd drunk several bottles of vodka :rolleyes:

not that i actually know what that feels like of course
