Hello each !! What a lovely day again ! I text Carol to wish her well selling, then my mobile rang so I answered

'Hello !' I don't get many mobile calls you see

'Hello ! ' I repeated, 'Hello !' again, and I could hear background voices, so I thought that somebody had accidentally pressed a 'quick key' and got my number ! So I said 'Hello, hello' a bit louder................... then a voice the other end said 'Hello !! .......who's that?'

'Hello, ......... ere Carol is that you mate?'....................... ' Ummmm who's that ?' was the reply, 'It's Gill, you rang me !' ............................' Oh, did I ? .........don't know what happened there then, I got a text'..........more background chatter - sounded busy..................'I must have pressed a wrong button !' then Carol started to laugh, I was already laughing. Carol said ' I'll catcha later mate, I'm serving at the moment !' so still laughing the pair of us rang off :wah:

Anyway hi to Kay, Hope, Kathy Ellen, Chezzie, Helen - glad your Wally has got the all clear matey !

Well today hasn't been that bad thanks Gill, though last night we had awful thunder, lightning and really heavy rain, and all out of nowhere. I was telling Kaylene last night that I thought it was the end of the world. Actually the weather now is just like it was then, so it makes me wonder what tonight has in store! :-3

How about you?

I'm fine Chris thanks. Been very warm here today and a bit of a worry where to take our elderly German Shepherd for a walk in the shadiest place, as he has such a thick coat bless him. He's 11 1/2 years old, going on 4 !! I don't do hot sun either, so I hide in the garden under our Eucalyptus tree :wah: We haven't had any thunder storms here in Notts. yet, but there are a few clouds gathering ominously from the south east, which I think is your direction !!:( Mind you I think thunder and lightning is very spectacular, as we are fairly high up where I live, and we overlook the River Trent valley, and storms tend to follow the river, so we can see them approaching !! :) ;)

Ah so I may be right then is assuming we could get some bad weather again tonight. The thing is we were hit about 10pm last night, and of course with it being so dark and considering where we live, I wouldn't have seen it coming. Which doesn't help as flooding is a real possibility here, and the last thing we need is for it too hit during the night, and there will only be the two of us here to cope, so fingers crossed!

Oh and when the hot weather hits I just spend the day sitting next to my portable fan, no idea where I would be without it!! :D

You'd be a bit warm ! :wah:

Well if you are that worried about flooding, you should move precious stuff upstairs, and as much stuff off the floor as possible, downstairs. Have you been flooded before, Chris ?

Friends Of Carol Part 1

Posted: Sat May 10, 2008 11:26 am
by chrisb84uk
It's actually our garage that gets flooded quite often because we have a slope that leads down to it, and the drain system can't cope with a lot of water. We've had some bad cases where the whole place has been flooded and done a bif of damage. We've took some steps already for future ones, but still it takes a lot of time to clean up and being basically on my own at night, is something I don't want! :(

At least it won't do too much damage though should we get hit, more hassle than anything more permantly damaging!
