scrapple........ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww mushed meat!:-5:-5
Scrapple is typically made of hog offal, such as the head, heart, liver, and other scraps, which are boiled with any bones attached (often the entire head), to make a broth. Once cooked, bones and fat are discarded, the meat is reserved, and (dry) cornmeal is boiled in the broth to make a mush. The meat, finely minced, is returned, and seasonings, typically sage, thyme, savory, and others are added. The mush is formed into loaves and allowed to cool thoroughly until set.

Seems to be slowly gathering popularity in the west, there are so many things you can do with it, so many ways to flavour and eat it.

I am NOT good with it. I want to like it but it lets me down. Turns out very waterlogged and stodgey.

A chip buttie (rhymes with footie) - was the food of the poor working class in the north of England. A bread roll, or sandwich with chips in it, maybe tomato ketchup. Some foods of bad times these days carry nostalgia value, the hardship element is forgotten, the family solidarity maybe remembered.

Hi Bruv - yes I think that is probably in similar category. In Australia it was/is bread and scrape, the scrape being the solidified drippings on the top of the fat gathered from the weekend meat.

That's bread and dripping that is...... for some reason (I am sounding old) meat doesn't seem to give such good dripping these days, maybe they cut all the delicious fat off before we get it.
I still remember the arguments about who had eaten all the jelly (pork) or gooey sludge (Beef...like marmite) at the bottom of the cup.
Beef dripping has an almost granular texture, while pork is smooth and slimey.
My mouth is watering.

And I hated eating chokos, but they grew wild on the back fence.
Still, I reckon we were luckier than my own kids in lots of ways. They say freedom is having loads of options - But I reckon it's harder when you have too much choice.
