If he were any "man" at all, with all due respect, and he truly loves you he wouldn't give a damn what his parents say or think! Sounds to me like he's still a kid going to mommy and daddy for guidance.

Sorry, but this is the blatant truth as I see it.

Yep. I have to agree with you there. He is very mature in many ways, but certainly not all ways.

I know people with all sorts of age gaps. I don't think you could shock me, and also being that I was in an age gapper, I have no room to judge anyone.

-double standard means its fine for a man to be with a much younger woman

but it's not fine for an older woman to be with a younger man.

it's society and what has been brainwashed.

Age shouldn't be a barrier if two people really love each other and are willing to work it out. Sometimes, people with huge age differences get along better than a couple who are only a few years apart. I know that it's not socially acceptable for an older women to have a boyfriend/husband who is much younger but if they're happy together, then why shouldn't they be together ???? I think the most important thing in a relationship is not the age difference but how happy they can make each other.
Happiness is not a destiny. It is a daily goal. :)

Mum had been sterilized so their was no chance of any more kids but he didnt mind and loved us as his own...My Step dad is more of a father than my real dad and I love him to bits.:-4...My mum is 65 and still works fulltime, has more energy than most youngsters and looks damn good...My stepdad is a lucky bloke..:D

There is a gap between Mike and myself, me being the eldest.

-We think alike.

-We have so much in common, classic cars, music, movies, our values and life in general.

-We care for each other and do everything we can.

-We show respect for each other and our feelings and thoughts.

-If something needs brought up, its brought up then, not a month later.

-We don't yell or scream

-We don't back stab

-We don't criticize

-if something happened in the past, it stays there.

Marriages has nothing to do with a woman being older than a man, its got to do with caring, sharing, loving, respect and above all, communication.

going on 19 years now and getting stronger with each passing day.

I'd suspect a 19 year old male dating a 98 year old female would be a bit taboo!!!!!!!!!

"What are we doing at a gravesight?"

"Oh, I'd like for you to meet my parents!!!!!!!"

"What's that name next to the two on the headstone?!?!?!?!?!?"

"Oh, don't mind that!!!!!!!!!!"

-that is a good question, for older men dating younger women there is no such thing as too big.

but reverse that and to some its a huge deal.

well, yes. I am not thinking about illegal relationships, but 2 consenting adults. Yes, some men do date women much younger. My ex husband's dad married a woman 27 years younger. They have been married for about 30 years. They seem perfectly happy.

Do you think it is "taking advantage" of someone's youth to date someone very young...say 18-22? I mean it's confusing because society says they are adults, they can vote, go to war and kill people, BUT if they are in a love relationship with someone older, then you are "taking their life away"...I can't wrap my head around that one.

I met my hubby when he was 22, but he was extremely mature, had traveled a lot, worked since he was 14, he was the one who suggested moving in with me one month later after we had met, 1 year later he proposed.

-depends on the maturity level of the man, most at that age are still very immature and undecided about a lot of things in life.

most women mature at a much faster pace.

and that age is definitely not for everyone.

I agree. There really isn't any way of knowing with any certainty how a person may change and grow in time no matter what their age. If you two get along for the time being and you seem to want the same things in life at the time, then I guess it's okay to proceed.

For example, your man said he didn't want kids at 22, but he could have changed his mind later. It just so happens that he did not I'm assuming. So things worked out for you :D

Well, now you're getting into specific circumstances related to the maturity of the individuals involved.

Many "18-22" year old people are mature enough for much of anything be it mentally, physically or spiritually. I mean I was going to bars at 15 years old and would take drinks of Jim Beam at the age of 8 behind my brothers back when he'd throw high school parties! Probably why people tend to ask me how I'm so mature in my age! I don't really think of it as mature as much as I am just who I am! Child's play disgusts me! What's left is to the majority to define "child's play". To me child's play is any act resembling that of indoctrinated fortitude!

A man becomes a man when he fights for what he believes in and only thereafter may he be judged for being wrong and ultimately rewarded in being right!

If someone does this at the age of 14 then that person is a man! Plain and simple(Or woman! The emphasis being the point of maturity from which I'm merely speaking in rudimentary nomenclature!)! I personally believe that no person below the age of 18 to 20 possesses the insight among as many virtues I've deemed to be sufficient within said persons own right to adequately be called a "man". That doesn't necessarily mean that many aspects about an 18 to 20 year old person doesn't define them as being very mature! Call it a progression to non circumstantial inevitability, or a lack thereof from which gives credence to immoral beings!

When someone fights for what they believe in they are defined as being mature to the same exact extent in which what they're fighting for is divinely moral! The rest are those defined by the beliefs of the majority! The minority has no relevancy in the matter!

lol...uhmm...yeah i follow you. I agree. You start to form your own beliefs as you mature and you are less likely to be swayed by what others think. You form an "identity" apart from your friends and family so to speak.

I think maturity is definately individual and you can be mature in many ways and still not be so mature in others. If two people get along well, have similar interests, ideas about the future, etc...then I would say they are equally yoked regardless of their ages.

I was dating a very young guy. He seemed very mature to me. He had more life experience than me in some ways having traveled so much already. He was very intelligent, spoke 3 languages, didn't drink or do what typical 18-19 year olds do. He had good values and morals, was respectful, kind, loving, affectionate, etc.. But of course there were some times where his age showed more than others...but I was understanding of where he was in life so it wasn't a bad thing.

I think maturity is definately individual and you can be mature in many ways and still not be so mature in others. If two people get along well, have similar interests, ideas about the future, etc...then I would say they are equally yoked regardless of their ages. I rest my case!!!!!!!!! :yh_wink...
