Well I am off again...going to have a bath and take Shayden to the doctors. Want to be there as soon as they open the doors. Yesterday they were all shut due to anzac day. All the shops opened at 1pm but the medical centers stayed shut so I suppose they will be busy today:(

A shame you've dipped out on what sounded like a good evening, Carol, but as you say, it isn't good to drive when you're tired and in the dark. I'm not keen on driving in the dark either, but I would if I had to of course. Like when we went to visit my sister on the Isle of Skye, Chris was driving Andy's Reliant, and I was driving our Volvo Estate, in convoy. However, Chris dived into a filling station, unseen by me and I just trundled on, it was probably all the lorries that were between us blocked him in my rear view mirror.
I noticed that he was no longer behind us, so I pulled into the next layby and waited. During which time I tried to phone him, but there was no signal. This was near Perth on the A9. Eventually we decided to track back the way we had come to see if he'd broken down (we had no idea that he'd stopped for petrol at this time). We still could not raise Chris on the mobile. We went up and down that bit of A9 a couple of times, still no mobile reaction. Anyway I managed to get through to my sister, told her the situation, said we were carrying on up to Skye.
I had already driven over 100 miles from our overnight stop to Perth, now I had to continue to Skye in failing light, missing the beautiful scenery, which was sad for Andy my son, because he had never seen Scotland before and I knew he would be gobsmacked at all the mountains and forests. About half an hour before dusk, my sister got through to us, saying Chris had arrived safely, and he'd lost power to his phone and didn't have the facility to charge it up in the car, like I had in the Volvo. He had left his pocket address book in the Volvo, couldn't remember my mobile number so couldn't even phone from a phone box to me ! Anyway, we were so relieved that he was at Skye and safe, so with much lightened spirits we pressed on and Andy was actually able to see the wonderful scenery around Fort William with a light heart and plenty of gasps, and phews until we had no more light. It was not a journey I would choose to repeat under similar circumstances, driving on narrow Scottish unfamiliar very twisty roads in pitch black. Knowing that to our left on many occasions there were steep drops down to lochs with nothing to stop a vehicle from disappearing for ever ! Needless to say I did very little talking, being far too busy concentrating, and for once, Andy knew to keep his gabble zipped ! We arrived safely and I was knackered, but exceedingly relieved. I think I had driven for nearly 8 hours that day, 3 hours in very dodgey darkness.
So I am not too keen on night driving :wah::wah:
Spean Bridge area, Scotland --- where dusk was rapidly engulfing us !
