i realize how fortunate i was indeed, i took it for granted. if you ever get to DC you need at least a week to even pay a desultory visit to all the smithsonian buildings. you could spend months at the national art gallery, and months at the natural history building. also, there is now the extremely moving holocaust museum. ............................................Smithsonian Institution

My village is very very pretty but I'm going to move into Lincoln up near the cathedral (third largest in Europe) - very pretty area round there - medieval, coffee book bistro boutique places and a very very good community church -:-6

Village is about to be torn apart by developers

Some really nice places to live, I can't wait to move from where I am, I have no idea where I'll go but it will be near water:D

Yes - water and hills - can't stand flat places - some fantastic waterfalls here in UK =- Aysgarth Falls in Yorkshire, Mares Tail on Isle of Arran in Scotland - but the one which took my breath away was the Bridle Hair falls in Blue Mountains in Oz:-6

I grew up North Yorkshire, and also live in Katoomba in the blue mountains for a couple of years. I now live in the Central west slopes and plains, I wil move in a couple of years though. Otherwise I think I will die, I have to have shops, lively pubs and water.

Places have real meaning dont they when they're tied to memories - I loved the Blue Mountains and Katoomba, Three sisters etc - SO beautiful - rosie parakeets flew over my head when we were looking out at the Bridle Hair Falls - but I knew my ex husband was having an affair - it was like crying over Eden

Where will you move to? - I'm moving into the city here for the same reason

I'm not sure, My Teenages are leaving home over the next two years, I can't move now because of school and them being in their final years. I also have a nice home here thats far too big for us I would be happy to sell it and buy an apartment anywhere near the sea. Plus there are no men around here that I have any interest in.

Someone asked in another thread what their favorite thread is - this is mine. :p

Great to see and experience where others live. I for one would love to see additional photos.

Speaking of that, we got another pretty good dumping of snow this past week. We're at 2500 feet elevation, so we don't get gobs of snow, but enough to make things interesting. One of the things I love about N. Idaho is that many of the roads are still unpaved. Being born and raised in California, any escape for the asphalt jungle environment is met by me with open arms.

Here are a few shots I took the other night as I left to pick up my son who was at a friend's house. Kind of a surreal night. Snowy. Dark. The only person tooling down the road was me.

Have you been snowless all Winter? We are expecting a long wet and cool Spring - courtesy of the moist Pacific air rolling in over Seattle.

Only one batch of early snow in November I think it was. No snow now, or in the forecast for at least a week, temps above freezing. It is unusual, I think.

The one who is my age is working for IRS....she did work for a hospital.

The younger one works on base as a decorator or something...like for parties and events.
