Hopefully something is being sorted now, by the council environment department, after my husband's phone call to them this morning. If things don't get sorted within a week, then I'll get my husband to get his wife on to the council again - his wife has got a way with words, so I've heard !:sneaky: :yh_rotfl

We call the police here with excessive noise, and it works, plus its kept confidential of course, glad I haven't had to call in years now.

Your council will take care of her, as that is excessive noise, to bad all your neighbors didn't get together on it.

My washing machine went on the blink this morning.........Saturday...laundry day.

It stopped agitating and makes a grinding noise. We've had it for around 10 years. I guess it was time for it to go to that great laundry room in the sky. RIP washer.

Hubby looked inside the remains. No agitator belts to tighten or loosen.

It is a Roper by Whirlpool.........2 speed.

We are going to try find a replacement tomorrow.

Oh, Diana,

I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm a bit of a washing fanatic, so I know how you feel.

I had my double decker washer/dryer and it broke down after 11 years. I ordered one on line from Sears, and they delivered a new one in 2 days. It was the same one that broke, so I knew it would be perfect in my small utility room.

Good luck with finding a new one:-6:-6

I was never so happy to see the backside of someone goin out the door as when he finally left.:(

Constant here at the moment. In fact the problem became so bad recently at my daughter's school that they sent letters home for all children to be checked within school and then parents told and made to deal with it.

Somebody told me a while ago that head lice prefer clean hair, because it's easier for them to get to the scalp. How true this is I have no idea, but I would think they would prefer an easier access !

Yes, I've heard that too, I've left her with a leave in conditioner tonight. Hopefully a week at school now will ease it up a bit. I don't think the infestations are coming from school each time. She was clear last monday night but full of them tonight, no school for the last week!

mmmm, that's interesting BB. That could point to friends she has associated with whilst on holiday. Or even being close to somebody in a shop or cafe! They are dreadful, nasty little fatherless insects, and I am very thankful that I never had the problem with my son when he was at school.

;) think I know where they come from. My son has never had a problem either, he had them once and that was when he caught them from my daughter. Given his aspergers he doesn't cuddle many people or get that close to them anyway. Daughter is getting better at keeping away from the head to head contact now she's more aware, and she's sick to death of having a sore head, she reacts badly to them. You do need head to head contact, they don't jump and they move badly unless on a strand of hair.

We saved the windows we used to have in our house, when we had double glazing installed. My son's best friend was offered them to use them as a cold frame in his garden, so my hubby took them from our lock-up garage and placed them carefully under our window that over-looks the front garden. My son's friend was told they were ready for his collection, and he said he would be able to pick them up in a few days. One week later on, (today) my hubby went to check the windows were OK as this friend had come down with his dad to pick them up, and some bugger has nicked the three windows!!!! They were OK yesterday, because my hubby saw them there. Absolutely nothing is sacred these days!!! :-5:-5:-5 It's a good job we've got our garden seat padlocked to the wall innit ? I expect that would have gone walkies as well !

I don't contribute to this thread but i need to vent today.

I have no car and why? Because i don't listen.

I've had the same mechanic who has serviced my cars for years and the time came that the clutch needed replacing. I bought a new clutch on e bay for my mechanic and he quoted me £200 for the work. Just before it was due to go in a friend of mine said he knew of another chap who'd come highly praised from many of our fishing friends. He quoted me £100 but my wife warned me time and time again to stick with what you know. I didn't listen and booked the car in with him. As soon as i'd collected it i knew there was something seriously wrong with it. There were all manner of clunking noises so much so that i booked it in with my regular guy this morning first thing and that's where my car is still sitting now too dangerous to drive.

My regular guy was horrified and told me that he's surprised i'm not wrapped around a tree from the journey over to him. He rang this new mechanic for me telling him of the damage to the universal joints and bearings and the chap admited that after he'd fitted the clutch, he'd left the car with a junior to finish off which included putting everything back and tightening nuts and bolts which he didn't causing damage to the universal joints and bearings. The chap admited responsibilty but the car is too dangerous to drive and i've got to wait further now for everything to be replaced.

Squirt some 'Plus gas' or 'WD 40' on it and let it soak over night. Somebody may have cross-threaded it when it was replaced last time, in which case you may have a problem.

Cold water "faucet" broke going to washing machine hose, needless to say, flooding water all over the entire downstairs level. Ruining carpeting, floor mouldings, many items, & flooring.

Crew here, drilling holes in walls, ripping off wet floor moulding, ripping up wet carpeting & padding, spraying (really smelly) disinfecting solution on floors, and installed 6 very noisy drying fans, & 4 noisy humidifyers!!! They all have to be on till "MONDAY!!! Oh Vey!!! :wah:

2002 nissan almera with 135,000 on the clock. They use a lot of salt on the roads in winter and it's usually rust that does in the cars - not the body but the underside gets the hammering so it's maybe not just the spring but the strut as well. . I reckon last winter has been the final straw. The cross member is badly rusted as well and needs replaced so I am facing the choice of ever bigger bills or buy a replacement si it's going to cost about £1,000 at best to keep it and get it through it's next MOT. I can talk myself in to new mountain bike quite easily but much as I like cars I really don't want to spend any money on one.
