Went grocery shopping, put the cat in the room so he wouldn't run out while totting in the stuff, and the doorknob broke! We took it apart, and still couldn't open the door. Of course, now the cat is stuck in there and crying up a storm. I had to go up and down the street looking for a guy to help me fix it. Finally got my neighbor down the street to open it up.

My husband insisted as soon as I got home from church to take down the tree, and made a horrible mess all over the place. I just finished cleaning it up.:-1

Got the key to my car today! Wednesday we're taking it to my grandmas house so we can leave it there till we get a battery for it. I'm excited. It has a lovely CD player in it that looks brand new. hopefully it works.

I know everyone has a cure but this one reallyworks. Take a swallow of cool water,

then take another but do not completely swallow. Hold it in your throat as long as you can then swallow. I dont know why but it does work.

A guy walked into a little corner store with a shotgun and demanded all

of the cash from the cash drawer.

After the cashier put the cash in a bag, the robber saw a bottle of

Scotch that he wanted behind the counter on the shelf.

He told the cashier to put it in the bag as well, but the cashier

refused and said, "Because I don't believe you are over 21."

The robber said he was, but the clerk still refused to give it to him

because she didn't believe him.

At this point, the robber took his driver's license out of his wallet

and gave it to the clerk.

The clerk looked it over and agreed that the man was in fact over 21 and she put the Scotch in the bag.

The robber then ran from the store with his loot.

The cashier promptly called the police and gave the name and address of

the robber that he got off the license.

They arrested the robber two hours later.

That happened to me once. Weird isn't it. I sold the car to someone who lived a long way away and the car ended up being owned by someone who lived less than a mile away so I saw it quite often

I do wonder what happened to me old ford, well I sold it in Dublin so it was probably used in a bank robbery or something, well, as long as there are no comeuppins, I don't mind. I am with homer on that one, "no comeuppins". :wah:

It is kinda strange though, synchronicty is an interesting thing. :)

Aha, so you are getting into it then. I hope you enjoy them actually, though of course personal opinion on books can be different. But I think you will enjoy them, they kinda have a bit of everything, and I love the way he mixes that kinda pre-medival European idea with the more traditional fantasy elements. :)

Yes he crosses a lot of real life mythology, paganism, and even the rise of Christianity into it, also the Irish come into it as well, and there is an Irish princess "Isolde" I think, though its kinda peripheral, it gets really interesting, he has a great prose style and very good ideas.

Pinky;511493 wrote: One of my fave tales is Tristan and Isolde, though I'm not sure that he meant it to be the same Isolde, as that's a Cornish myth I think:thinking:

That is interesting actually, I think Isolde might be a generic Celtic character that turns up in Cornish, Irish, Welsh, Breton, and other literatures, and then was passed into medival English and French literature. There is certainly a Famous princess Isolde in Irish folklore, though I think she was passed down from other older stories. I think she was reputed to be the Daughter of a great Viking cheiftan who ruled dublin for a time, there is a pub callde "Isolde's Tower" in Temple Bar in dublin (as well as "The Norseman"). I actually lived on a street where the Vikings were settled 1,000 years ago, after Brian Boru beat the Vikings in the Battle of Clontarf in 1014, it was called "Oxmanstown Road", as Oxman was the Viking for "East Man" which is how they were seen by the natives at that time, its cool that its still there 1,000 years later.

There is a very famous Irish myth about Diarmud and Grainne, which is qiute tristan and isolde like, and the cycles about Fionn and the Fianna have many parrallels with the M'ort D-Arthur legengs of English folklore, it makes sense that these things would be shared anyway as all of these people lived in proxminity to each other, and shared more or less the same ancestors. Interesting though.
