Does anyone else who has Sky find the Christmas music that they play when you are viewing the guide somewhat addictive. Everytime I just can't help but to turn the sound up and listen. Sad I know! :D :wah:

:wah: Hahaha that's the worst thing about most of these tunes, that they really aren't that good, but they are addictive, and you end up find yourself whistling them at random points in the day hahaha.

I always profess to dislike all those Christmas songs when I'm shopping. But they're infectious. I'm really scared that one day I'm going to break into a full-throated rendition of "Frosty the Snowman" at the checkout at Woolies one afternoon.

For the record (hah, the punmeister strikes!) I still think Nat "King" Cole's version is tops :D

What is Woolies. We used to have Woolworth novelty stores here. Is that the same?

I think they merged with some other company here. We called them five and dime stores. Kress, Woolsworth and McClellans. Later on we had TG&Y for years but they are gone now too. We have Walmart and Target mostly. Sears is not quite the same.

Woolworths is just a general store that sells practically everything, over than food, (well apart from snacks and drinks etc.) Our Woolies used to be really small, but now it is huge, and even have a whole area for the Christmas tree display. Prices aren't too good though, especially for C.D's which are a rip-off!!

Our Walmarts ore different sizes in different parts here. Some have the whole lot. Auto service, groceries, McDonalds inside, Lawn and garden center etc. Some have a bench to sit down on if you get tired. Guns and hardware too. But there are some Walmarts that ore only groceries. Some do not have everything but most do. Sams Wholesale Club here is owned by the same people who own Walmart. Sam Wall started it all in Bentonville Arkansas. I get a slice of pizza and a coke many times when I get groceries at Sams.

Well I've only been to a Walmart once, and I must admit I was amazed that they could fit so much into one building. They sold practically everything in there, and compared to prices over here, all at a reasonable cost too, (and not very busy I must say!)

I do shop at Walmart a lot. Partly because most are open 24/7. And yes the prices are good. Many communities are fighting them building new stores near them. They say they run small shops out of business.I expect that is true. They dont pay enough for their employees to buy health insurance from them so most people who work for them are on DHS for health care. Only people who are below poverty level can get health care from Dept Of Human Services. We do not have national health care here.

I LOVED walmart when I was in the US. It was in Alberquerque, and had a little machine in the wall with recipe's in it. You could choose something to cook, print out the recipe, and then go get all the ingredients!

GENIUS!

You lived in Albuqurque? I like Santa Fe.My daughter wanted me to take her to Albuqurque to some tattoo artist she knew. I didnt do it. We are just now passing a loaw to allow tattoos here in Oklahoma. YOu could get them for years in Texas and in Kansas and lots of other states. Tiggers in Dallas is well known. I have been there.

About the recipes, I didnt know that. but I have been using the recipesource.com. but now they did something to the site. When you want to print and you click the link to make full size print of recipe it tells you page not found. Still have great recipes but I dont want to print all the other garbage on the page.

In the south part of Kansas where I grew up they had a huge parade each Fall called Arkalalah. There were bands from lots of other states came to play as well as floats etc. Horse clubs in it too. But the one thing that impressed me most was the India Temple Shriners Marching band. They wore those shoes with curled up toes and the big balloon leg pants and the turbans and one man who was about 6'7" led the lot with his Scimitar swinging and the others had cymbals on a pole the thumped the ground to make them crash and little straight brass horns and big bass drums. Very impressive. But the last few years they have dwindled and now just a few left and they ride in a covered trailer thing. Sad. I loved to see them.

Ah I see. Good of them. We have a organization called The Salvation Army. They dont have a brass band but they have a tambourine and trumpet. They also have a person stand on the sidewalks in front of businesses at Christams time with a pot for donations and they ring a little bell. Those are great people too. I have been on duty on the guards on flood duty and tornado duty etc and they come around and give you a sandwich and oranges etc. I alsways give to them. The Red Cross is on disaster sites too but you gotta go find them, they dont come find you.

Ah! OK. I have to tell lyou a funny story. My sister and her husband went to England some time ago and they saw two girls with flaming red hair. They asked if they could take a picture of them to show their son back home here in the states. They said ok but really they were from New York. Heeeeee.

Oh yeah, I just recalled they told me they saw a taxi go by with no fare in it and it did not stop for them. It did stop down the block so Dan ran after it and the man was just pouring himself a cuppa tea froma thermos. Don told him they needed a ride and the man told him he was taking tea first. Don told him there was a good tip in it for him so he poured his tea back into his thermos. I guess they are serious about teat time.
