that's what my husband sounds like! he even says "ya'll"!
...but then he never had a really strong Irish accent to begin with.
I remember when we met our friends 4 year old daughter for the first time she said "he doesn't sound like the Lucky Charms guy"

I got some great fluffy pale blue slippers today.
They have magnets in the sole so they stick to the radiator and you can have nice warm cosy toes when you put them on! :wah:
Toasty!

When I was a boy in Kansas, I slept in a screen porch Winter and Summer. I loved it. Fresh air! But I had canvas curtains to keep blowing rain out. and I had a feather bed for winter and several heavy blankets. Inside the house they had one gas heater that was free standing. It was in the dining room and so the bedrooms were cold. MY granny lived with us and she had a brick sewed up in a sock and she would lay that on the heater for a while to warm it up and take it to bed with her.

I bet that brick was toasty! I used to give my kids hot water bottles to take to bed, they were wrapped inside cute animal covers, but they got cold so quickly.
As a child I used to be given a stone hot water bottle and THAT kept the heat in for HOURS! Bliss! I don't think you can get those any more.
So I bet a hot brick stayed hot for hours too!
It's funny, with all our modern technology, sometimes the old ways are still the best!
What about you, Okie Dokie?
Do you have radiators or are you still a screen porch kinda guy? :sneaky:

Naw, I have become really spoiled. I have central heat and air. I wish it were like my screen porch tho. I am at the mercy of my daughter now. She feels cold and truns the thermo up and I roast. Or she gets hot and turns it down. I need to lock it up I guess.
Yes, the old ways were better in some ways. My granny was very handy and she taught me old ways of making things. And she taught me how to make pies and jelly rolls etc.

Yes I read in your profile that you like cooking, especially Cajun.
Is that hot & spicy? I've heard of Mesquite too which I'm guessing is either spicy or BBQ flavour.
We Brits are so far behind on the culinary scale. :-5
What are your favourite things to make and whats a jelly roll? Is it like a jam doughnut? (And whats a twinkie? Is it just a small sponge cake?)

I do like cooking. I like to cook cajun stuff and yes most of it is very spicy. Cajuns mostly cook things they can catch in the swamp and use rice with it. The spice it up with cayenne pepper and bell peppers and tomatoes usually but andouille sauage goes in a lot of it and that is very spicy. they use crawfish and catfish and some chicken. but most all of it is in a pot. There is another type of cooking down in Louisiana called Creole. That is the French influence and more uptown style. You would eat cajun in the kitchen and creole at the dining room table. Cajun is my favorite. Especially jambalaya. but I make raisin pies and apple pies. Yes, a twinkie is an elongated sponge cake filled with cream. Two in a package.
A jelly roll is a cake laid out and cover it with jelly then roll it up and slice it so its a little like a cinnamon roll but its really cake instead of a yeast roll.
I do like mexican food a lot and we make mexican a lot. I grew up near some mexicans and one friend would take some tortilla with us to go fishing and he would take a jar of refried beans (frijoles) nad sometimes hot sauce. and a bottle of tequila. Or vodka. I am getting homesick for all that. You just cant go back.
