Hi TM, Mustang, good to see you both! :-6

Yep Happy Meals all around - well to anyone that wants one that is hehehe, though I remember only buying them just for the toy inside! :D

Yeah sorry about not being round much and taking my shift, but my gran is visiting at the moment, and seeing as how she has been on her own for a while, we felt it was right to spend a lot of time with her whilst she is here. :-6

Besides my arrival back, just means Mr Grump is here to complain about the state of the loos again, right!? :D

Yes thank you, it's really nice seeing her again, she certainly hasn't lost any of her drive and passion for life which is good to see, after all that has happened over the last few months.

And as for my grump, nah he's hiding in the corner for today, so no need to worry about him! :p And you say you got me a nice new desk, ah how kind of you all. I'll have to think how to reward such kindness! :-4

Hi Hope, I hope you are well. :-6

I can't remember the first time I had a happy meal, but I do remember it being very nice. Actually I'm not sure that they are still even sold over here, but then again it has been a long time since I was in McDonalds, so maybe they still are. :-2

I haven't really been to any fast food outlet in such a long time, we only really have the odd meal from the local chinese, and that tends to be healthy eating. I wonder whether they have changed much from a few years when I used to go a lot? Somehow I doubt it though hehehe. :D

I don't think those places ever change!

I usually eat at regular places where you go in, sit down and have a real meal, with real silverware instead of plastic!:wah::wah:

Hahaha yeah I know what you mean. I must admit I am one of those people that likes to visit the same little cafe or restaurant and usually order the same meal, just because I like it. Perhaps that is because there isn't that much choice where I live, but I just like the service, atmosphere and of course the food, that's why I go back.

Though those restaurants will never be as popular as McDonalds or the like, I mean in our city they are all located next too each other, and the whole street in ALWAYS full of young teenagers hanging out there. It's actually kind of a scary sight at times. :wah:

hahaha well I'm assuming though that those restaurants get quite a few customers. And I tend to find that the smaller places have a much better environment than larger ones.

Yep normally you should be able to reserve a place, unless the restaurant doesn't operate that policy, but if they are busy I can't see why they shouldn't.

yeah you can call and reserve a table but it's mostly large groups that do that, we have a family gathering of my father's family at one place every year and we reserve a table but it's usually over 20 people in our group.:)

You know they have these chains here in the US and they won't take reservations, so what happens is these nutty people with young kids will wait up to 1 1/2 hours for a seat. Would you want to sit next to them?

I've seen the same here. I know one restaurant that has a entertainment complex nearby, and whenever the restaurant is booked or at least full when they arrive, they will go off for an hour, and then come back. Nothing ever changes though, but still these people wait and wait, and they always tend to be the same kind of families that do this. I mean surely if you find the place is busy you would go elsewhere!? :-3

I have no idea Hope, by the time it gets into nighttime I tend to leave, so I dare think what games the pub goe'rs get up too. I just know from the mess the following morning that it's eventful!! :wah: :sneaky:

Quite right Ducky, those families, and especially those noisy kids really ruin the whole environment. I mean the least you want for your money and reservation is a quiet enjoyable meal, not some brats shouting at the top of their heads!! :-5

Exactly, if your paying good money at these joints, I don't want to hear some brat screaming, god, I can go to the playground for that noise and it doesn't cost me a dime.

And you know what makes it even more annoying? The parents don't even seem to care, and despite the best attempt from the staff, nothing is ever done about it. Shame really because it must keep a lot of first time customers away and especially from coming back again, if they keep coming across that. :(

i'm on sometimes at night if Jacob wakes up or something, i'll have to check it out!:lips::sneaky:

i know there are some really high toned places in the larger cities that don't want small children, they don't even have high chairs.

Hehehe well please if you see any 'bad' behaviour if you would be so kind as to try to restrain from joining in, as tempting as it may be, I mean just remember those poor folk i.e. me, who have to clean up in the morning afterwards! :D

Now that is something I would definately rather not seeing!! At least more good restaurants actually clean up the mess left behind. I've seen some that are so 'busy' doing other things that they are quite happy to bring in another family to that spot and supposedly be happy with the state it is in. Beyond me really!!

Do you get the foodnetwork channel or website over there? There are plenty of easy recipes to follow. Although, I know what you mean by cooking. I can cook, but my daughter thinks a great meal is out of a can.

Don't believe we do. The variety of channels we have is pretty staggering, yet I hardly remember any food/cookery channels at all. There might be the odd program shown once in a blue moon, but that's about it I think.

Certainly would be helpful though, but I find that of the odd show that is shown, they focus on really obscure, difficult to make dishes, that really aren't something that a novice like myself want to start on.
