As someone rightly pointed out you have part of the placement requirement sorted out. This isn't failure, it's a start. One of the other places you have in mind may do you the full requirement, but if it turns out they can only offer you one morning between them - well, you achieve the course requirement, even if it's not ideal.

Might not be a bad thing to see a variety of different schools while you are training, either.

The problem is that the college won't let me split my time between 2 schools because it breaks continuity.

I'm hoping to hear from 2 other schools on Monday

Hi everyone :)

A very quick update ... I can't believe where the months have gone. It feels like my life is just flying past me right now. My tutors are pushing us all to complete the course in 5 weeks rather than the end of June. The pressure is well and truly on. It's been a tough ride the whole way as some of you know but I wouldn't change it for all the tea in China. The kids I work with are fantastic. I want to pop them all in my pocket and bring them home :D I'm discovering patience that I didn't know I had and my art and craft skills are being tested to the limit. I'm having a fantastic time.

All I need to do now is pass the course and find a job. They are thin on the ground at the moment but once the new pupil intakes have been settled on, things might change. I want to stay at the school I'm in at the moment but there are no vacancies right now. All I can do is see what comes up :D

So .. that's it ... that's where I'm at. :)

LOL. Welcome to the Profession, pink. You have the primary needed ingredient: Patience.

One of my Administrators once told me, "If there's anything a kid can say to you that would make you lose your cool, don't become a teacher, because sooner or later, they'll say it!"

Another little update .....

The course finishes in 3 weeks. Where the heck has the time gone?

I am constantly applying for special needs classroom assistants posts at various schools. As yet no interviews but I must stay positive and hopeful. I figure if I apply for what's out there something will stick. There is a child out there that needs my help .... Right?

Today one of the teachers I work with asked me to teach all her classes this coming Monday.... YAY!! :D:D

So .... I'm under pressure to finish up but all in all, things are good :)

Tomorrow I am handing in my notice to a company that I have given 11 years of my life to. I've loved almost every minute of the time I've had there, but it's finally time to move on.

I'm going back to college in September to do a Teaching Assistants course. As some of you already know, I've been rattling on about this for months on end. I can hear you all heaving a huge sigh of relief that it's finally happening:wah:

For those of you who I've discussed this with on many, many occasions ... (I'm not gonna name names) thank you all so very much for giving me such fantastic advice and listening to my endless ramblings. I am truly thankful to all of you :-4

Although this scary, it feels like the right thing to do. :D:D

Well thats good. I know a few people who thought a career change would work in their favor and after the economy went bad they were laid off because they were low in seniority.. They kick themselves for leaving their previous job where they would have been safe and would still have a job today had they not done the career change.

Willingness? Oh my. If you are remotely involved there aren't enough hours in the day. It's the joy and curse of the profession.

My concern with pinkchick is whether she can protect herself from the exhaustion.

Aaawww :-4 thanks for the vote of confidence guys ... that's so kind of you both.

It's been an emotional day today. I taught all my groups on my own today which was fantastic but oh so exhausting.

It's almost the end of term now and I'm really going to miss all my little ones.

My last class with special needs is this Friday ... I'll be at the school until the last day of term to help with various things but I just don't know if I'll be back in September. I know I can go back as a volunteer until something comes up so it's not all bad I suppose.

Good morning everyone :D Another little update ...

College finishes in about a week from now. It's quite exciting and nerve wrecking all at the same time. I'm working hard to get my final assignments completed. Burning the candle at both ends these days but it'll all be worth it.

I've been applying for jobs in various schools. Yesterday I got a letter from a local grammar school to have an interview next Wednesday ..... Eeekk!

It's a one to one post for a year 8 child.

Ontop of al that ... I'm starting a part time job on the 30th of this month. It's with a company I used to work for. It's only a temp post but at least it'll get me some money over the summer.

So that's it for now .... life is busy and full but it's all good :-6
