I used to love this place. Good threads, nice people and have made some friends here too. It is very damaging to the reputation of a forum when 3 of the most frequent posters are banned. and one needs a break. Doesn't that tell you anything?

We don't have enough hours in the day to read every post. We "moderate". If they are so offensive, or post that should have been reported, REPORT THEM. We can't act on something we know nothing about bring it to our attention if you feel so strongly about it. There are other forums if this one doesn't please you anymore.

What is damaging is when people keep dragging this thread back up with their incorrect perceptions of what is going on.

Sunshine, I like you so don't take this wrong. This forum can't be moderated too suit 4 members only. It can't be moderated to please just you or anyone else. If the forum is going in a direction you don't particularly like then it is your prerogative to not join in. Not that I'm suggesting that.

Most euro's don't understand why an American would hate Obama. They automatically assign it to race.

If you are pro gun, Euro's can't understand how big sport shooting is over here, combined with the need for a gun in many places in the USA.

A good number are atheists. A lot of Christians were martyred for their faith. I wonder how many atheists would die for atheism?

And, no matter what happens anywhere else in the world, somehow it's the fault of America's foreign policy. Or Bush. Or both. All foreigners know exactly how we should run America.

Then I stand back and take a good look at their countries and thank God I'm an American.

I must admit that all of these can be true at times.

No offense to the UK members or other foriegners, its just they way it seems at times. Not all times, just sometimes. Not all member, just some members. I however never take offense, I figure I have little or no knowledge of their traditions or ways of life. I just hope no one takes offense at my ignorance of their respective cultures.

Again peeps I think the mods react to what the mods are fed, if we continue to tattle and whine to them repeatedly they are going to come down heavy on us and create a forum that feels like it is run with an iron fist... so not what we want FG to be.

Sometimes though it's better to step back from a highly emotive confrontation and

Like Accountable, I couldn't recall the garden almost 'sinking like the Titanic' until Floppy mentioned the Site Rules. Everyone calmed down pretty damn quickly after that.

I don't know what it is about FG but even though folks have left in their droves after some of the spats online, and set up new forums with all the same folks (usually all using the same names) those forums never seem to prosper in the way that FG does ...and gradually folks become disillusioned with them and start to reappear here.

I think it would be a shame for such a great forum to be lost now. Other forums are far too full of sex talk (without the jokiness) and swearing for my taste. Perhaps the mods should repaste those site rules - along with Tombstones' comments at that time - to remind us all how great we have it and also of what we could really lose.

We have to allow emotive issues to take their course. Its what this place is for just as much as the fluffy stuff. People will get emotional and passionate about certain things and allowances must be made to a point. Some people are more sensitive than others and allowances must be made for that too.

I want the passion to stay. I want to see emotion otherwise this place will stagnate.

All we have to remember is that if you post on a subject with a certain amount of vigour, expect it back and dont take it personally. Otherwise, move on

Of course I'm not saying personal insults should be allowed but heated arguements are to be expected at times and should be dealt with by the mods appropriatley. I'd hate to see this place heavily moderated
