Each anti-american post I cross the poster goes on the list, there are some threads now that make no sense whatsoever theres so much of it.
Minks, I love ya too, seems like forever now we been posting, but there's nothing left of FG for me. Thats the shame of it, over the weekend I cared what happened to this place, monday I was flat out ticked off, now I dont really care at all. I am certainly not overly sensitive now, now I'm very calloused. That's sad... you make it sound like you're leaving!!!

you are welcome Mr P Lake...
Ok that out of the way.
Jester I hear ya completely been there done that, there still is a draw here and there are still people I care very much for. There is also new friends to be made here Hey just where did this new guy Peter Lake come from

So anyways as I was saying Jester, I think the beauty of FG is we get to choose what and who we care about here and just allow that and them to keep us coming back. Anti anything is hurtful I agree, I would never ever downplay it. Good lord you all are always going to be my neighbors to the south for as long as I call myself a Canuck and some of you I agree with and some I don't but I will always respect the fact you have opinions. They beauty of us humans is we can agree to disagree. Also the other good thing about FG, there is always somebody who is happy to see you (collectively) here.
We can't love everybody and everybody cant love us.

Ok first things first, Omni and I are not making light of this thread, homor opportunities exist and we were just playing around.
Jab Jester and others, I am sorry to hear the frustration you face here in FG. I understand you to a degree as well as I can understand the others or as you guys may call them the offenders. I grew up heavily influenced by both your nation and others to the east of us... it's a constant tug o war of who is right, who is more offencive or more offended. It's so tough to watch you guys. Sorry this is not meant to be about Canadians stuck in the middle.
I wish it were easier for everybody here...

Now if I said that as a cowboy I would have thought you would like that kind of thing while still alive you would accuse me of being anti American wouldn't you? :-3:sneaky:rather than being a subtle reference to a recent Hollywood film which i gather portrayed cowboys in an unfamiliar manner.
Why is it I can call a welshman a sheep shagger or an irishman a bog trotting paddy without being accused of being anti welsh or anti irish (OK I'll concede that in the wrong place I might get my head kicked in ) or I can discuss devolution with an englishman without being accused of being anti english, though you do get the odd unionist that starts frothing at the mouth. I can laugh with frenchmen and germans at our national differences and rerun old conflicts without them taking offence yet any comment on america unless it is fulsome praise and gratitude for having been saved from nazi domination is somehow anti american?

Oh really my GB loving, jingoistic British friend. What, are you denying all fascination with whelks? So not even the odd jellied eel? Perhaps some savaloy sausages, pickled onions, some kind of weird eggs in those jars, pork scratchins, some Pukka pies? We have sent research teams over there to work out how you people can survive on what you eat, unfortunately none have returned to date, we think many of them have been lost in a little chef near Doncaster. :wah:

Quite right. I wouldn't want to be mistaken for english either, even if I was a yokel from the bottom end of england. Not sure where west sussex is, from the map it looks like you head for london and keep bearing left.
erm are we not in danger of offending the yanks by hi-jacking the thread to slag off the welsh and irish with a passing sideswipe at the whelk eating english? You can slag the scots as much as you like, I know you are just envious, Give us a fiver as a transfer fee and we will let gordie boy settle in england permanently. On second thoughts just keep him.

I just thought i'd have a quick snoop to see what the haggis botherer was up to before i went out and sure enough, the moment my backs turned, there he is dissin the main man and taking the pisse out of my home-land.
West Sussex is the very posh part past London.
Let Gordy boy settle in England permanently? Ha.. You'll have to fight me in the car park for him. Mind you, if goes on with any more of this nonsense of bailing out failed Scottish banks because your bank chiefs have the iq of a slug on prosiac, then Gordy boy and i may fall out.
You know very well that folk are sick of hearing Gordy boy's name mentioned and there you go bringing him up again.
Any more of this and i will begin to think your anti-british. Now back to your whisky distilling you Guardian reader.

Yes your right, we are letting our local rivalries (you god damn Scot) overwhelm the main point of this thread which was to reassure those senstive Yankee types that we think they are an alright bunch really, and that all slagging of them is purely because it amuses us, or because they p*ss us off in some way.

No whelk has passed any lip of mine.
I admit to the occasional jellied eel.

My father gave me a whelk as a small child. I remember chewing on it for what must have been two days and then finally throwing it over the nearest roof. Never again could i look a whelk in the face. :yh_sick:yh_sick:yh_sick:yh_sick:yh_sick

getting back to the picking on yanks thing,in my experience a lot of resentment to our friends in the us was cos our girls and younger generation used to admire all things usa,the stars, clothes, cars, even place names, but most of all it was the girls going ga ga over american boys,i can remember during the 70s it was so hard to pull an english girl i had to put on an american accent,,! it worked!

Well, I'm a girl.. and i never lusted after Yanks. As a girl, there was only one type i lusted after and their names were Jean jaques Burnel and Hugh Cornwell. I still lust over them regually :wah:
