Do You Own a Gun?
Do You Own a Gun?
When I was a kid my dad had an air-riffle that shot pellets.
I set up a target in my backyard and played SWAT (big TV show at the time).
My friend and I would take turns running an obstacle course we made, then finish with a forward roll which we had to come out of and shoot the target.
It went well and was fun until I shot my neighbors window out. After paying for repairs and facing my father’s wrath, I haven’t shot anything since.

I am sure it is like riding a bike....but still...if you own a gun you should be familiar with it and know how to use it.

Half of all violent crime happens in rural areas. Actually yes. We live in a small farm town. A few years ago Chicago shut down a bunch of it’s public housing. The created offsite housing. Basically farm out the problem Chicago created. Now our small town has MS13 gang members in it. Please do a net search to understand just how bad this gang/ terrorist group is and how it’s invading the USA.

It is illegal for them to have a gun already. Making them illegal for them to have is as effective as gun control has been in England and it’s alarming increasing murder rate.
Actaully it’ very hard to control a full auto rifle. 90% of all bullets fired miss their targets. This is the reason military rifle now no longer have full auto but instead 3 or 5 round burst. Much easier to control. Also they don’t kill instantly. Do a net search there have been many instances when attackers have killed large groups of people with only a knife since everyone else was un-armed. An example are the 9-11 high jackers. They used box cutters and killed how many people?
Personally if I wanted to mow down a bunch of people I buy a Hummer and ram into a crowd at 60 mhp. Much more effective.

I was raised in the inner city of Chicago in a bad area. I also spent my summers at my grandma’s farm in Iowa. Here she taught me how to handle a shot gun and firearms. I have introduced well over one hundred people to firearms. Most of them women since I didn’t talk down to them, treated them with respect and started them out with air pistols and 22’s stressing safety. I have seen to many jackass’s wanting to show off to their gal pals by sticking a 44 mag in their hands. They always end up hurt and the jackass can’t figure out why his gal pal never wants to touch a gun again.
SIDE BAR: All through the 1800’s WOMEN on the farms did most if not all the hunting. The men were to busy working the fields.
Also it's fun. pilnking with 22s really brings out the competitive spirit in people. I have lost count how many times first timers have had so much fun they buy a 22on the way out from the range.
One more thing LADIES You always shoot better then guys. All men for some reason think they are dirty harry at the range and never listen when given instructions.
Ladies on the other hand listen and put it to practice. Within in the first 10 minutes I can have a lady blasting the center of the target while hubby hit ratio is barel on the paper 50%.
Another thing women have on men is they don't flinch. Men always do, ladies don't. I have read that some doctors think it's physiological and related to their central nervous system being setup to handle the stress's of child birth.

Our town has just under 3k in population. But we have 30 full time cops, 2 K-9 units and a swat type unit. Towns around us with 20k have 15 full time guys.
Last week we had three bomb threats at the public school.
You just never know when and where. We are hoping they can get a handle on it but between the economy, our state being a sanctuary state and the very large illegal population our cops are fitting a loosing battle.
But better to be safe then sorry. Just like the three 20 pound and 5 5 pound fire extinguishers I keep around the house.
Here is an update on the kidnapping.

They have found the womans car but nobody was in it. They are now looking for a black cadillac with front end damage as they rammed her SUV. I do know the police & FBI are now involved...they did take away a black caddy for tests, etc. Still no sign of the mother & child.

Half of all violent crime happens in rural areas. Actually yes. We live in a small farm town. A few years ago Chicago shut down a bunch of it’s public housing. The created offsite housing. Basically farm out the problem Chicago created. Now our small town has MS13 gang members in it. I googled this group and I can well understand the worry if members are living in your community.
What's the answer for this?
Is it poverty or drugs that are causing this violence and the need for so many people to align themselves with a gang that is so vicious and destructive?

Those are loaded questions.
During the Great Depression when people were REALLY dirt poor there was NO increase in crime. So poverty does not automatically mean crime.
Is it the break down of the family unit? Church? character?
Another wrinkle is that MS13 is also a terrorist group. This adds many additional issues.

'Missing' Mother in Custody in Florida
by KYW's Jim Melwert and Ian Bush
It looks as though it was all a lie. The car crash. The abduction. The being locked in a trunk.
And now, a 38-year-old Bucks County woman is facing multiple charges after authorities found her and her little girl unharmed at a Disney World resort hotel.
Bucks County District Attorney Michelle Henry:
"Bonnie Sweeten was taken into custody in Orlando, Florida. She was taken into custody at the Grand Floridian Hotel, a Disney World resort. She was with, at the time, her nine-year-old daughter, who is safe."
The Feasterville woman is charged with false reports and identity theft.
Sweeten is alleged to have taken her co-worker's driver's license to purchase a plane ticket to Florida on Tuesday.
She'll be extradited to Bucks County to face charges. Her daughter, Julia Rakoczy, was to be picked up by her biological father.
There's no firm word on a motive, but authorities say Sweeten may have had financial concerns as well as problems at home.
Law enforcement sources tell KYW Newsradio that Sweeten's abduction story began to unravel Wednesday morning when her abandoned SUV was found near 15th and Chestnut Streets.
Surveillance video from the area apparently captured the 38-year-old mother and her Julia Rakoczy, with another woman. Sources say mother and daughter also were captured on surveillance video at Philadelphia International Airport.
There were also other inconsistencies in Sweeten's story that came to light as the investigation unfolded. Sweeten told a 911 operator that she was calling from Bucks County, but cell phone records indicate that call came from Center City. Also, there was a parking ticket on the SUV found downtown, written a half hour after the call.
Sweeten called 911 Tuesday afternoon to report that she and her daughter had been abducted following a fender-bender at one of the busiest intersections in Bucks County. She told the 911 operator they'd been kidnapped by two men after an accident on Street Road, near Second Street Pike and stuffed in the trunk of a black Cadillac (see related story).

Agreed although handguns were very common in Britain until the late1800s/ early 1900s
Allot of it goes hand in hand these days. Terrorist groups smuggle drugs to make money for "their fight". MS13 has taken it to the next level. Instead of just smuggling drugs into the US they are taking over distribution by bloody force to make even more money. Yes the Crypts and Bloods are bad and the kill all the time. MS13 on the other hand are trained killers, all have combat experience, Small arms and are well versed in urban terrorism and combat.

Unfortunately, in a country where the villains have guns, there is a vicious circle. British police are having to become more and more protected with many armed officers on the streets now. I don't believe we will ever go the way of the US because i can never see a return to guns in this country. Any crime involving fire-arms here is dealt with very harshly by the courts. get caught with a knife and you'll get let off with a caution. That's our big problem...... knife crime.

They may have to bring back the flying squads. A good friend of mine, an SAS vet was a Flying squad commander in in N.I. in the 70's.
The gun grabbers over here always say "The British cops don't carry guns!" Well the Bobbies no but most carry them in the trunk of their cars. I also love the look on their faces when I tell them about the Flying Squads and their 2 shot rule.

Do You Own a Gun?
I've been trying to convince my sons to think about safe hiding places for their guns and stocks of ammo. They sell air/water tight containers that can be buried but that is too hard to get at quickly.
I have some other ideas if you own a house but won't discuss them. However, once I lived in a two room apartment in a very old building. My apartment had a very short hall connecting the bedroom and kitchen/parlor. All the walls were paneled. In that hall was a small closet.
At that time I owned a sizable gun collection. The building was not very secure. So, I bought a sheet of matching paneling, removed the closet door and molding, fitted the new paneling over the wall covering the door opening and replaced the molding in such a way that it opened with the paneling. The panel was held closed with one screw that was covered with a picture hung over it. No one could tell there was ever anything behind there. When I moved out, I replaced the panel after emptying the closet. Last I heard, it was still undiscovered.

guns and ammo should be hidden well.
When my husband's grandfather gave him his rife, we hide it in one of the ceilings of the house.

If they are being stored the wall hide out is a good way. Hiding in a ceiling, closet or some other along these lines are the worst possible idea.
Kids get EVERYWHERE. Hidden guns in such a manner are the number one cause of kids getting injured or killed buy guns. Carelessly storing guns in that way is the worst.
If you have a fire arm in the house and you are not familiar with them you MUST contact someone who is and learn proper storage. Don't think for a second kids don't get into all those nooks and crannies. Hide it yes BUT lock it up.
You must always have some sort of lock on it. Rifles, Pistols, both auto and revolver can safely be stored with a cable lock running through the open action. You can get free cable lock from most police departments.
I just snapped these pictures as a examples. By running the cable through the action and the magazine well you can't even put a magazine into the gun or in the case of the revolver you can't close the cylinder.

Cool I did not know that no kids were around. I still get nervous though when they aren't locked up.
Even my night stand gun that is always loaded is in a small single gun safe that reads my finger print to open.
You can never be to safe with firearms.

-once firearms became illegal in Canada, we surrendered it to the police......he had said, because its an antique and is in our family........just keep it stored safely and with no ammo......as we never had any of..........we also had to sign papers regarding it.
now that my husband and I have separated........I no longer have it here.

Last summer, when we were sitting outside around 11pm, we had seen two thugs with hoodies on, walk up the street into my neighbours backyard.........we heard them playing with the lock on his garage door as he was away that weekend......I phoned 911........and stayed on the line with her as she asked me......it was a long time and the police station was only 2 kms away............then she asked me where my street was located as the cops couldn't find it.:-5:-5

That just proves, when the chips are down, you are on your own.
I got two daughters and three sons. I taught 'em all how to handle and shoot guns. Except my youngest daughter. She thinks girls don't do things like shoot, fish, hunt or anything else unladylike.
My oldest daughter is the exact opposite. She loved going fishing with me. After she married, her husband took her out to teach her to shoot his shotgun at clay birds. When he handed her his pump shotgun and started to tell her about it, she surprised the hell out of him by grabbing some shells and loading it. She informed him that her dad showed her about pumpguns, autos and doubles. He was even more surprised when she broke clay birds fairly regular.

it sure proved a lot to me that night for sure!
The Metropolitan Toronto Police could not find my street?
most girls would think that way, me, I love fishing, been down and dirty with the best of them, hip watters on in the streams, putting worms and live minnows on, taking fish off and release them back slowly, just walking into a river barefoot, just to fish.
Nice to hear your other daughter is well educated with guns.
