OK. This has been said a number of times now. "I type ## words per minute." In actual typing terminology the wpm count is only calculated on mistake free work. Mistakes are calculated against your word count thereby reducing the wpm figure. I could type over 100wpm if I didn't have to make corrections. As it is, I ACTUALLY type 85wpm and catch most of the errors in that time. :yh_tongue BTW a "word" is five characters including spaces.

Oh WOW Koan, you must feel so proud to know all that. Im glad that you can type 85 WPM mistake free, that doesn't impress me much though. I wasn't bragging about the amount of WPM I can type, I was just saying thats what I type. Sounds like you need a trip to the dentist.

"Ineptune" I like that! Or how about ...."Uarentus"
I used to type 70 wpm when I was younger, but now I find that I am getting a little dyslexic. I seem to transpose letters occasionally. (And this stupid Apple keyboard malfunctions constantly.)

Ya. But if you are typing 70 wpm without mistakes that should make you feel proud about your average. That is unless you are trying to bs people into thinking more highly of you and the dental care that you get.

RSF: Are you actually here to contribute something constructive, or are you just trying to play us? Because I see some of your replies, and some of your threads are actually "normal" sounding. Then I come here and find this. Can you not help yourself? Is this a knee-jerk reaction? Are you sarcastic by nature? I am puzzled, so I will just come out and ask you: What is your intention?? Just to pick on Koan? Just to act like a jerk in some threads and not others? What is with the bi-polar posting? 'Splain yourself, if you can. But remember...I was "home-schooled." :-5

Well, yes, I am very sarcastic by nature. Always have been and I assume I always will be. And actually I think if you read on page 11 of this thread is where I jumped in. All I said was that I typed 70 WPM..... and then Koan, although she didnt quote me, I felt it was directed toward me said: "OK. This has been said a number of times now. "I type ## words per minute." In actual typing terminology the wpm....." The wording of it sounded sarcastic to me and thats what I dish back. Maybe she didnt direct it toward me, but thats what I felt because it came directly after me. Maybe just bad timing. But we've had our differences in other threads which lead me to think it was.
Sometimes I cant help it becuase thats the way I am. It just comes out without warning. She hasnt said anything to me in any other threads (the normal ones)since our initial encounter in the MADD thread. It seems to me that Koan has been waiting for me to say something about myself and then jump on me questioning my abilities.

Well, I can't really agree with you on that RSF. Koan is not the type to "lie in wait" for you to do something and then ambush you. Had you been here for any length of time and gotten to know people, you would have discovered that yourself.
Perhaps if you are "sarcastic by nature" as you have said, then the sarcasm you hear is your own conscience speaking. I have forgotten more about being sarcastic than any 3 people could ever hope to know, and have never had a problem containing it here, and being NICE. Sure, it comes out once in a while, but I am known here, and people know how to take me.
You started out antagonistic, and then changed your tune, and now are back to playing the villain again. Why? Because you think a member has it "in for you"? On top of sarcastic, I'd say you are paranoid. Do a little background on some people here. Read some stuff by Koan, and me and others who you have been rude to. It just doesn't fly here, it's not what this place is for.
You said "that's what I dish out." I think you are misreading things here. We don't ask much, just basic common courtesy.
And I'll tell you something else...I have NEVER gone to this much trouble to get through to someone being rude before, and I'm not sure why I'm doing it with you. Maybe I sense some manners hidden away somewhere under all that bravado.

You like to play "DEvil's Advocate" RSF and that's OK....We all do it occasionally to make a point. But there's a difference between that and attacking people personally.
Maybe I sense some manners hidden away somewhere under all that bravado.

I think rsf is being a jerk because he hasn't read that others, other than he, had claimed the aforementioned reputation of 70wpm. The point is don't put your foot in your mouth. Read a little. Don't jump in and claim to know something that has already been said and talked about elsewhere in their context. I would give you the benefit of the doubt. Don't make me wrong. Say what you want to say. Don't be a parrot.

If ya wanna cause a shake up then maybe this isn't the board. We are not closed minded to opinions as you can well see, and we are not hard nosed about others flaws as we have demonstrated but we do take offense to someone new coming in and talking crap about our members. Face it it is a nice forum and we wanna keep it nice. It isn't just a newbie thing Sox it's the general attitude here, we put forth our best efforts to be nice to each other. BTW sarcasim is not always a pretty trait so if that is your style we don't find you very pretty.

As much as poor spelling bothers me, I find it even more irritating when someone points it out. I was just reading another thread, and while the person may have not spelled all the words right, the meaning was very clear. I found it very distracting to the topic that someone just HAD to point out the mistakes.

Oh my god, I've been away and this is what I come back to read?
Do you lot realise what you sound like?
I know spelling and grammar mistakes are annoying, some annoy me like the new signs that have been put up in my ward that say "Wellcome to...." thing is that is a professional setting, and I find it looks unprofessional.
This is a forum, for all people from all backgrounds etc. etc. not everyone has had good education, and not everyone understands grammar.
My brain has two short circuits, firstly I am dyspraxic, this for me means that my brain doesn't always send the right signals to my muscles, so I suffer with lack of coordination, the main signs of it now is the lack of ability to pronouce polysyllabic words, tongue tied best descibes it.
Secondly I am dyslexic, this was not picked up on until I began University, but I can not spell, and I do not get grammar correct, I read and write slower than most people and my short term memory is bad, not to mention my awareness of time is often non-existant.
Having said all that people who do make these mistakes are by no means thick or lacking in intelligence, even if they spell it wrong. I have a higher than average IQ, dispite my spelling and grammatical shortfalls.
A little programme for spelling that I often use is
http://wordweb.info/ a dictionary that is easy to use and just a click away on my tool bar, it even allows you to highlight a word on the page then click the wordweb link and it will give the meaning/spelling of the highlighted word.

Maybe we could start a spelling thread nand all those that don't like spelling mistakes in uneditedposts can go there and play.
For the gammatical error nuts we can start a thread for proper grammer uses and then they can go play.
We, who don't care, on the other hand can just continue to post and pass around the information that has been asked for or... ?
Spelig... grammer... nice but this isn't really called for unless we go to the proposed grammar and spelling threads.
