I came here from a board taken over by flamers with their self congradulating hyperbole. I come here to enjoy an interchange among adults. Unfortunatly the "ignore" option really doesn't cut it, the object of flamer's is the self gratification they feel from annoying others, they will ultimatly infuse themselves into any popular thread, they thrive on the disruption.

I dont think, from what I've read so far, that this is the future for this forum. I see exemplary patience being practiced by the mods. Hang in there D! This thing will play out to it's conclusion. Besides......theres alot of interesting things going on here, from what I've read so far!

click on the user's name to the left. select 'view public profile'. when you're on that page, there's an option to 'add to ignore list'.



i personally don't employ the ignore function. actually, as i wrote to another user in email a short time ago, what i typically do is get fed up with someone, put then on the 'ignore' list, then five minutes later 'un-ignore' them. taking the first step of mechanically ignoring the user is usually enough to snap me to attention and bring about a modicum of spine and willpower, and thenceforth i'm able to 'ignore' the user by force of will. for that matter, the 'ignore' function just replaces each of their posts in the thread with 'post by so-and-so who is on your ignore list' which then tweaks my curiousity so i read 'em anyway!

Urgh. Cheap plonk. £1.9 per bottle, IIRC. Good, though. Some cheap plonk *is* good, some is only suitable for cooking or discouraging dogs. Some "Special Brew", too.
