Another Reason To Quit Smoking

Post by weeder »

Great day today... good thing Im still in a good mood. I left the house really early to go to work at the house with the agressive snakes..... Stopped at Lowes.. got a bale of peat moss. Yeah, right on schedule.

My truck was piled high with mulch. I sat back, drinking my coffee.. SMOKING.. ready to enjoy the beautiful scenary out in the country.

A car behind me, was blowing its horn ...... What???

They came up on my left.. blowing.. and wildly waving their arms at me.

TWO NUTS.... I MUMBLED UNDER MY BREATH....

Remember like John Candy, in Trains, Planes, and automobiles????

Finally they got me to pull over.

THE BACK OF MY TRUCK WAS IN FLAMES.

Evidently I had thrown my

cigarette out the window.. and it landed in the mulch pile.

Thinking of the gas tank exploading.... I grabbed a tool to try to smother the flames.

GLOVELESS!!!

The wooden handles of the tools were on fire.

The couple called the fire department.

ALL OF MY FINGERS ARE BURNED,BLISTERED,AND BANDAGED

I was praying to God that the fireman wouldnt ask " Do you smoke mam?"

They thought the fire was due to spontaneous combustion.

They wet down the pile with water, and dragged most of the mulch off the truck.

I had to reload it.

Im Ok. Two of the fingers on my right hand are the worst. And oddly, all of the burns hurt like hell for a couple of hours... and then they really calmed down.

So, such is the life of a woman who lives her life like a man.....

Would I want to stay home tomorrow.... dust, make meat balls, and knit??

Not on your life!!!

Give me the outdoors, the forest, the snakes, and the trees......:D

Aww, Weeder..............a close call.

You should be writing a journal or diary for yourself and posterity. You are talented. I enjoy reading all of your posts. You have a wonderful way with words.

I'm trying to quit smoking myself. I can not do "cold turkey". So I am doing behavior modification. I don't smoke around my hubby. I don't smoke in the car or truck. I only take 3 ciggies to work. I have cut down considerably and am on my way to being a non-smoker. It just takes time and determination. Honestly, I have to stop being an opportunist and stop attributing "smoking" to a reward of some kind.
