Grass Pollen Allergy

Post by Philadelphia Eagle »

My wife suffers terribly from this seasonal affliction and this year has been particularly bad for her.

She has tried most of the sprays, pills etc. prescribed for her by her doctor and some over-the-counter ones as well. Nothing seems to work for any length of time.

If anyone has had a good experience of an allergy-busting cure your input will be most welcome.

What about allergy shots? I don't know anything about them, but have heard of them. I have sympathize with your wife, I have pollin, dust, smoke, kitty allergies and nothing is helping me. I am considering the shots.

Claritin is the only thing that has worked for me with the added bonus that it acts like an appetite suppressant which I find very helpful.

In the UK I did not have the alleergic reaction to grass and pollen, but here in the US it is sometimes extreme. So my heart goes out to anyone who suffers the itchy, sneezy and watery eyes.

Lizzie Love, I used to take Clarityn for my hay fever and have recently bought the cheaper versions of it, ie not the brand name of clarityn but the same drug, they still work for me, but my sister claims they are not as good as the branded ones. Wondered if you'd tried the cheaper ones? Is it mind over matter or are the cheaper versions not as good as the real thing??

Funny you should say that BB I used the Claritin-D which is for 24 hours but my cousin used another version which was also spelt slightly differently, "Clarityn" and she said that it did not work for her.

Also there is a homoeopathic brand of stuff brought out under the tm HYLANDS. They do a complete range of stuff from allergy relief to upset stomach stuff.

You can get it at a store which sells wholefoods and stuff, we have a few here in DC but there will be more choice in more enlightened areas, like Arizona I would think.

Anyway Hylands is the name if you don't want to take the usual stuff.

Still it is a bloody nuisance :-1

Nice to talk to you all and I am glad I joined., this place is huge

I couldn't stand being in a desert tmbsgrl, so here we are on the east coast and the house we are just about to move into is on the side of a lake. I feel I can breathe there. Have been here 2 years myself. Sorry your original plans backfired, mine too I only came for a year and am still here, but that's life. Anyway try the Hylands remedy I mentioned in the other post it may well work for you. Atishoo! :-1

Bless you :p
