the first polls to open in the US will be 7am tomorrow on the east coast - or 12PM in the british isles. the last polls to close in the US will be in alaska, at 8pm, or 5am in the british isles. however, we'll have the beginnings of a picture of how the vote will turn likely by around 8pm central time, or 2am in the british isles.

you heard it here first.

my prediction is thus:

kerry will win the popular vote by a small but clear margin. the electoral vote will be too close to call early on. there will be literally thousands of lawsuits filed all over the country wednesday morning, and that will throw the vote into turmoil. the 2000 election set the precedent, and this election will bear that bitter fruit. i believe kerry will win the electoral vote by a very small margin, but there may even be problems when the electoral college gathers to vote - there may be jumpers, which would further taint the election. a winner will not emerge until mid-december. i believe it will be kerry, but the bitter election and the clearly divided vote will cast the same cloud of questionable legitimacy over his presidency as it did in 2000. without a clear mandate, and with a congress that is expected to retain a republican majority, kerry's presidency will be marked by gridlock - it will come to a near standstill.

and frankly, that's the best outcome i could hope for. even though i voted for bush, i ultimately prefer it when congress and the president are of different parties, and thus at loggerheads. it prevents either side from 'getting things done', and that's the way i like my government: unable to foist their petty little ideological peccadillos upon the vast populace. keep them all busy arguing with each other, and they may stay out of The People's hair.

Irish online gamblers bet 13million on who will emerge as the next President of the United States.

Online gamblers on a Dublin-based "Trade Exchange Network' gave President Bush a 55pc chance of holding onto his job last night.

Recent violatile betting pattens in favour of John Kerry have, however, prompted speculation that rich Democrats including billionaire George Soros are logging onto European gambling exchanges to back JK.

Some observers claim this may not be because think JK will win but because they want to ensure he receives better media coverage.

No. We don't get our programs changed all around so we can watch foreign elections. We are the center of the universe, and watching The Swan is so much more relevant than watching elections with more than 2 parties (GASP!) in places we can't find on a map without the country names written in.

Beg pardon for my sarcastic humor. If I don't laugh at all of us, then I will scream.
We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.
