Trafalgar Anniversary
This year is the 200 year anniversary of Lord Nelson's truimph over a combined Spanish and French fleet at the battle of Trafalgar.
There are lots of events planned, many of them centre around Nelson's home port of Portsmouth. The City Council have decreed that during the re-enactment the two fleets will be labelled "Red" and "Blue" as opposed to Britsh and French. They have decided this in the spirit of political correctness!!!!!
This is an outrage, I am writing to Tony Blair without hesitation.

What on earth will they re-enact with? The Victory can't get out of harbor, surely. I can't think of even four frigates that would look the part, much less anything suitable to put into the line of battle.

When flower power came along I stood for Human Rights, marched around for peace and freedom, had some nooky every night - we took it serious.
Who has a spare two minutes to play in this month's FG Trivia game! ... My other OS is Slackware.

I agree with you Bothwell, but in this PC-mad society, I`m surprised that they didn`t fix it so that the frogs won the re-match!

Maybe - if they use real English, French and Spanish trawlers, and divers with shaped charges, and lots of whizzbangs, it'll solve the problem of overfishing the channel, and the subsidies, all in one go?

The salute I use to my French "friends" is the time honoured "V" sign. It is thought to originate when captured English (actually Welsh) archers would have their two bow drawing fingers amputated by the cowardly froggie, the two fingered salute prior to battle was their way of showing the French that they were fit and ready to fire, particularly prevalent at Agincourt, another magnificent victory in our struggle against the garlic ridden, snail chomping, over perfumed race that is France.
I mean these people think that Charlie Chaplin and Jerry Lewis were the two funniest people on the planet and that Johnny Halliday is a great singer. Never forget this is the country that invented mime!!!
I would not want anyone to think I am xenophobic about "Les Bleu" but they are so rude to me, on many occassions I have addressed them most fluently in their loathsome native tongue only to be treated to that infamous gallic shrug. As far as I am concerned "una beer silvia plate" is a perfect way to order a beer.
