Donuts or Muffins?

Post by koan »

In Ontario we have 24hour donut shops, mostly Tim Horton's. It's an institution.

In BC... Muffins. I mean Mmmmmmmuffins.

I had to look for awhile to find a Timmy's... Boston Creme crisis!

I like muffins but, don't take away my creme filling!

Tim Hortons, any day. In fact it is the one thing that I miss! Everytime I visit home in Toronto the first stop from the airport is to a Timmy's for a 12 pack of Tim Bits!

When I was in the States last I loved the fact there was a 24hr Dunkin Donuts shop:-4, my waist hated it though, I love the ones with fillings, the ones that are glazed, the ones with icing and hundreds and thousands sprinkled on, damn can you see my problem, I invested a fortune in that shop for 2 weeks

I do like having a muffin too, but donuts are my fav :)

Apples & oranges.

The two are completely seperate delectables with very different expectations and anticipations.

They both deliver but not by any means are they comparable.

Also can you define creme ? Are you talking about the light whipped sugary filling or custard ?

At any rate creme filled baked goods would fall into the pastry category, not doughnuts.

No offense but you dont seem qualified to discuss the intricasies of bakery items.

time out! :-5

oh, alright,

perhaps, being that they are round, with a hole in them (generally), there is another reason that guys would think donuts are better than muffins.

Dunkin donut coffee goes great with these lovely donuts near-by at a shop called "Obcos" Their donuts and coffee are so spectacular that there are lines around the corner. They close whenever they sell out their donuts...sometimes at 9 AM in the summer.

I am not a big fan of donuts, but do like them from time to time....same with muffins...I love choc. with choc. chip ones, so of course the idea of a bran muffin that might have a hint of nutrition for me in there is totally lost....as in many things in my little happy world!

Isn't the term muffin also slang for... well you know? :-3

No preference, really... just depends on my preference at that moment. :D

Both are easily made at home, too... I especially love making beignets in the morning to go with my coffee... I made fresh yeast doughnuts yesterday morning. They're even better than Krispy Kremes. :)
