The comedy in England has changed.I think one of the best we ever had was Only Fools and Horses.Do any of you remember that one.

I was introduced via TV to Mr. Bean here in NZ a few years ago and find him hilarious. I don't think that his movies have fared well in the U.S.

Only Fools and Horses was probably one of the best comedies of it's time, so it makes it a little surprising that after writing such a good series John Sullivan came up with the tame 'The Green Green Grass '.:-2

Old faves: Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, Good Neighbors (The Good Life), Open All Hours, The Two Ronnies, Butterflies, Solo, The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin, To the Manor Born.
New(er) Faves: The Office, Extras.
I'll agree that comedy has gotten "meaner" over the years, both here in the US and abroad. That's why finding fare such as Corner Gas and Pushing Daisies is such a treat.

You seem to be a bit bored today Koan.I have only just read a post were you are winding folk up.This is an old post, why have you dug it up. Everyone knows that the English and Americans have a different sense of humour. That does not mean
they are not funny, we just sometimes don't get each other.

Someone else dug it up.
I've met quite a few of our UK members.
I'm sure they get the humour of what I wrote.

I'd like to know what a jolly looks like. Is it similar to a frolic?

Oh and an honourable mention for "Garth Marenghi's Dark Place", that was one crazy show, but also very funny. :wah:
