I just finished a Venti Iced Chi Tea Latte. What are you hooked on?

I hate starbucks with a passion.
They're taking over and pushing independent coffee shops out of the high streets.
And that's not even mentioing how much they pay the coffee bean producers.

Saffy! We should congratulate them for doing so well and figuring out the business! I'm sure they don't do it on purpose, their coffee just happens to be better than anyones!
My faves in order:
Iced Caramel Macchioto extra caramel and an extra shot
White Mocha
Vanilla Capp.
Peppermint White Mocha
Caramel Apple Cider
Vanilla Steamers
All VENTIS!!

I have to agree with Saffy. Starbucks is overpriced overrated another multi national chain pushing independents out of our high streets just like mac donalds and burgerking have done.

I agree with that. I'm not sure why "Starbucks" appear unable to make a proper cup of coffee. "Marketing", I suppose.

Oh HELL yes. :-6 "Frack" indeed.
When visiting that coffee shop (the term "coffee store" is perhaps more appropriate), it's always a Venti mocha in cool/cold weather, and a mocha frappacino in warm/hot weather. I will say, however, that I visit other shops more frequently because I'm not such a big fan of Starbucks' scorched-earth marketing policies.

Well, it's the only coffee shop on my block.
If there was a less expensive "friendlier" alternative around here, I'd be happy to support it.
Until then, I have to support my caffeine addiction in whatever way possible. :-6

I usually can't escape without a cinnamon scone, myself. (Note to the UK readers: I've been informed by those who know that Starbucks' versions of scones bear little resemblance to yours, but to-may-to to-mah-to, they're dang yummy anyway.)

Starbucks went downhill.
They used to be really strict about timing their shots and threw a lot of coffee out every day. They must have assessed it and decided they could save some dough without losing customers. The timers are gone from the espresso machines and I'm gone from their lineups.

In all seriousness, I have nothing but respect for those who serve from behind that counter. I couldn't deal with that sort of pressure; I simply don't quite have that level of fondness for the public.

I just did it for the free coffee. All we could drink while on shift. I don't think I slept very much for those three months. We used to have a lot of fun there too. Great staff. I think that changed when they got all unionized too.

Dare I comment on this one?
That's right... you mentioned that you were a barista for Starbucks... and I mentioned that I had a connection with Starbucks, as well... Whether it had gone union or not, the inevitable at these places occurs much the same way.

Three of my good friends work at Starbucks. One is a manager, one is a single mom holding down two jobs, and one is a student. All three of them absolutely adore the company & would never think of leaving. Its so odd to me, I can't imagine being that pleased with my employer.
Its nice for me too, because I get pounds of coffee for free!

Starbucks was boycotted in Berkeley when it first appeared
because of the famous ( in the Bay Area) Peats coffee.

I drink any of the fraps with extra caramel. Big sugar rush but so good. I don't go everyday though so I'm not that addicted.

I've found a reason to never again enter a Starbucks. In my opinion the reporter is a knee-jerk eejit for having written the first article, and she doesn't exactly do a mea culpa with this follow-up, but it's Starbucks Corporate who are the real villains here.

Anything milky and sweet. :yh_coffee
And then, there's the ice coffees....
Maybe a touch of vanilla... or hazelnut... or chai...
oh god... I'll be back
*Off to swoon in my car, we have a drive through Starbucks just down the road.*
I order a few, and stick them in the frig when I get home. I feels so decadent, I always try to make it seem like I'm ordering for 3.

Starbucks seems to have confused coffee with milkshakes. I'm sure there is a place in the scheme of things for sweet, milky confections - full of bits of cookie, like grandma used to bake and icecream and colouring and sugar sugar sugar. Add cinnamon, add vanilla why not, hazelnut flavours etc etc. Sprinkle the lot with chocolate chips, smarties, and whipped cream whirls. It may be a wonderful, comforting, supersizing drink-meal

I used to like Starbucks, but gone are the days when it was just two schoolteachers and a writer whom, inspired by their friend Alfred Peet, just wanted a decent cup of coffee the way it used to be... rarely do I see the baristas properly time or measure their espresso, or even use timers on the pots of coffee and toss out the old stuff... and I never got into all that fru-fru sweetness... I prefer a nice, fresh, rich cup of varietal coffee... no cream, no sugar... which I've discovered if you want to do it right... get the green beans and roast them yourself just before grinding and brewing.
