The great Mayo or Salsa debate..
Tonight I made breakfast burritos for supper, since they are quick and easy to prepare. However it never fails that Dave and I get into a debate on which is better on burritos. He sais nothing beats mayonaise on breakfast burritos, and I vote for salsa and sour cream on mine.
So I was just wondering, what do you prefer on your breakfast burritos?
Oh and here's how I make mine. In a skillet slice up bout 6 or 7 strips of thickly sliced bacon. Then add about 4 potatoes cubed. Fry until the potatoes become tender. Then I add a can of chopped green chilis. I then beat about 9 eggs and pour into the potatoe/bacon mixture. Cook until the eggs are set. Then serve on flour tortillas with cheese. (I like salsa and sourcream on mine also)
And if you don't eat breakfast burritos is there something you and your mate debate about dealing with food?

Im afraid I must reject this. Mayo is ok if its mixed in with something, egg salad etc. Biting into a sandwich and getting a glob of "raw" mayo seemingly an island unto itself will cause the gag reflex to go into overdrive.
Same goes for cream cheese. And sour cream. There might be more to add to the list.
FG really isnt about mayo Red. But you didnt know, its ok.

beef hearts
beef salivary glands
You put this stuff willingly into your MOUTH??

The Truth
According to the U.S.Food Safety and Inspection Service of the Department of Agriculture, mechanically separated meets are the real thing and are safe.
Very simply, mechanical separation is a way of getting every last piece of meat from the bone of a chicken, turkey, or other food animal.
Bones with edible meat attached are forced under high pressure through a device that separates the bone from the meat.
It's a process that's been used since the 1960's and for a variety of popular products.
A statement from the U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service says mechanically separated products are "safe, wholesome, nutritious, and useful in providing consumers with the wide variety of economical meat and poultry products."
We have not been able to find any reference to the carcass specifically having "immature sex glands."

Mayo and salsa mixed together is VERY good on eggs, tuna, mixed greens salad and even a pizza.
Years ago, before I knew what was IN it, I enjoyed chorizo. Now, of course, I can't get it even near my mouth.
Mayo is a great gift to all of us in egg salad, tuna/chicken/chopped veggie salad, etc.
I love making my own mayo with olive oil....
Anyone else? Anyone want some tips about it?

I am a Mayo-aholic...my kids tease me about how much I put on subs/sandwiches...they give me a new jar and ask me if that will be enough for one sandwich? (don't know where they got thier smart-alic attitudes from?)
But, I would have to say ewwwe to mayo on the burrito...salsa and sour cream for me!
It sounded really good, as I scarfed down a pop-tart this morning, would've preferred Ms. Sheryl wearing her little apron serving me a texas breakfast burrito!!:D

this is my favourite:
Aioli (eye-oh-lee) is a wonderful garlic mayonnaise sauce that hails, it is said, from the Provence region of France and is as natural on the dining table there as butter or salt and pepper.
Pair it with crab cakes, shrimp, scallops, crudités (vegetable nibbles) and artichoke leaves, and you'll see why. In fact, the French don't stop there but eat it with all manner of fish, eggs, pasta, meat, potatoes, bread, and chicken salad as well. Can't blame them.
The Basic Aioli Recipes
All true aioli recipes start with egg and olive oil as a base, which is essentially mayonnaise, so you can use readymade mayonnaise as well. (I think I hear the French gasping.)
Fresh minced garlic, fresh-squeezed lemon juice, salt and pepper are the other basics. But most often, other seasonings are added, such as cumin, thyme, rosemary, coriander, curry, and Dijon mustard, as well as a hot ingredient like cayenne or horseradish, and that's where you can really get creative.
Once you know how to create your own aioli recipes you will never need a recipe again, but here are the basic recipes anyway to get you started:
Egg and Olive Oil Aioli
6 fresh garlic cloves
1 large egg or 2 egg yolks
1 cup extra virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
Salt and pepper to taste
Place the garlic cloves in a food processor or blender and mince. (Or you can do it by hand.)
Add the egg and process briefly.
With the processor running on low, very slowly pour in half of the olive oil.
Add the lemon juice.
Gradually pour in the remaining olive oil and process until the mixture thickens and emulsifies.
Transfer to a small bowl; add salt, pepper, and any other seasonings of choice. (Salt, pepper, and cayenne is excellent.) Cover and chill well.
(Readymade) Mayonnaise Aioli
1 cup mayonnaise
6 fresh garlic cloves, minced
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
Salt and pepper to taste
In a small bowl, combine all ingredients and other seasonings of choice.
Cover and chill well.
Note: You can serve your aioli after chilling it for about 30 minutes, but it's better if you allow several hours for the flavors to meld and mellow. Any mayonnaise product should be kept refrigerated and served chilled.
