jimbo's double standards

having been the proud father of two very good looking fully grown men ,i was always some how proud when they would say i took this girl home or that girl etc i always thought ,thats my boy sort of thing or they are just playing the field sort of thing but boy did i get pay back this week i'd never really thought of it as a father of a beautifull teenage girl before ,chantelle has put on 40 pounds yes 40 pounds she is no longer an anerexic rib on hunger strike ,she has boobs and curves and every young guys eyes pop out on stalkes and it seems what was a perfectly good thing for my own sons to do is now my own worst nightmare :-5 i have no logical explantion for the way i feel about it this day and age ,why is it hard to accept that my teenage daughter is able to have a healthy sex life that i thought was so normal for my sons ,so other dads of teenage girls do you feel like this or moms of teenage girls did your husband/partner freak out when your girls grew up :-3

whatever the way i feel i really want to be close to my daughter i guess my attitude needs to change with the times

I'm freaked out by the fact that my son might be having sex soon, if not already....he's only 18 and the girl he's with is only 16....They are usually always supervised, at least thats what I think when he's over her house...

A mother of a son sees it differently....I don't wanna be a Grandma at age 40!!

My mate and his ex-wife had opposing views on this subject regarding their son. He was sent home from school for having sex with one of the teachers who was then suspended. My mate's ex was horrified that their son was sexually active. I think he was about 14 at the time. She told my mate to give him a good telling off, but typically he was secretly a bit chuffed. He told his son that if his Mom asked, he'd given him a good telling off and asked if he was going to have sex with the teacher again. His son said he might, but he'd probably wait until his arse stopped bleeding.

This tired idea that it's okay for guys to go out and get theirs but it's not okay for girls and the prevailing attitudes about it pisses me off. I grew up with that ignorant double standard and all the stupid shotgun remarks that came with it and I would never put that on my child. Especially a daughter. What's good for the gander is just as good for the goose.

When my daugther came home after her first ever date with a boy i made her go into the garage and stand under a UV bulb ( i use them for my reptiles) You'd be suprised what they show up

Oh no i was way worse than a warden . My daughter thought it was kinda funny and told all her friends . She's nearly 18 now and luckily i've chilled out a lot more now .

Yep you are bang on Pinks, so ya teach them about safe sex and birth control.

I did this with my daughters and by gawd their father had a bird, but tough crap what does he know... He barely knows his girls so in my honest opinion has no say.

As our kids hit their teens we can't be with them 24 - 7 so its all about educating them.

I embarrass my son, but its worth it! He insists on abstinance until marriage, and as much as I hope for that....we still talk about the nearest drug store locations!!

I am with you Minks, my boys' dad hardly knows his sons' also, and it's sad, because boys don't want to talk to their Mom's about that...but mine do...not extensively mind you...but I haven't lost touch with reality when it comes to the subject at hand! Geesh, I'm thankful that their Dad isn't involved, all I can hear is "So, Son, are ya tappin' that thang yet??"....can we say jerk in unison??:mad:

Its amazing how fast they grow up. Since its obvious she's changing, have you had a chance to talk about dating / sex etc.?

As Red said - your sons are dating someone's daughter - you can't have it both ways, having a daughter is a different frame of mind thing..?

Pants - the light is funny - did your daughter know what you were up to at the time?

My mother use to pace - we drive up and the porch light goes on - she stood in the doorway - she was a warden.!!!

thanks guys i'm so glad i posted this today ,i realise its not the 1900'S and my girl has to be treated like the grown woman she is ,she has gone too stay at her older brothers flat with her other brother chris ,if i had not read your posts i would of said no for definate but when she asked and i said yes your an adult now ,she was so pleased she hugged me and said dad i love you i wont let you down i am so glad you trust me :-6 i realised what an old fashioned silly old fool i am ,and i look forward to having a great relationship with my girl ,thanks for your input every one

Curves and boobs....thats just no good. How about the legs ? Are they causing you grief too ?

I'm totally open with my daughter about sexuality. She asks me everything. I expect that she will have sex when she thinks she's in love and it will only be a crush but she'll be aware of what she is choosing and she will choose wisely. I hope she's at least 16 when that happens but I'm not a kid in today's world so I leave it up to her and try to give her good advice.

I don't want her to ever feel she needs to hide anything from me but I don't expect her, or want her, to tell me everything either.
