"Why not just tell people I'm an alien from Mars. Tell them I eat live chickens and do a voodoo dance at midnight. They'll believe anything you say, because you're a reporter. But if I, Michael Jackson, were to say, 'I'm an alien from Mars and I eat live chickens and do a voodoo dance at midnight', people would say, 'Oh, man, that Michael Jackson is nuts. He's cracked up. You can't believe a damn word that comes out of his mouth.' " Michael Jackson

First thing that popped in my head when I read your post was talk to him about it. If his behavior is offensive to you then IMO you have the right to speak up about it. Arrogance is one of those character traits I simply can't tolerate, and you shouldn't have to either.

I was really close friends with someone for over 17 years and she started treating me badly.

I'm intolerant at the best of times, but I really gave her a stack of chances and she blew each one.

So I simply stopped seeing her.

You need to decide if your arrogance is something that can't be addressed and if it's something that upsets you.

My ex-friend is working very hard now to rebuild the relationship.

Has he always been arrogant or is this something new? Coud there be a reason, like some underlying insecurity?

I'm kind of in the same boat with my friend of 20 years. She is never wrong or at fault for anything. Always critiquing others yet failing to see the errors in herself. So far I've said nothing but the time is coming. I'll probably use humor when I have to call her on it, hoping thet will diffuse hard feelings and open up a dialogue. Have you thought of that?
