Our assignment: To masticate and to swallow

It begins with our mother; it is continued by our teachers, and our college professors. Our intellectual food is prepared, cut into bit size portions, and spooned into our mouth. All we have had to do is to masticate and to swallow.

When our schools days are over we must learn to prepare our own intellectual food or we end our existence as an intellectual being striving to be all we can be. We become easy marks for spinners (ideologues) to fill the vacuum with their particular views.

Obviously, we have never had any intellectual food. So after schooling, we have to discover it for ourselves. Maybe I'm just lucky, but as a reader all my life, I found some food even when in elementary school and high school. And at university I had a mentor who caused me great stress as he kept insisting that I think. I don't think I'm alone in this, but we still have little influence in the world as intellectual activity seems more our hobby than our occupation, as sad as that sounds. I did get accused once of teaching my students to think; must have been an accident, eh?

How do you think children learn???!!!!

How do you think children grow to be thinking people????!!!

They masticate and swallow the facts that are given them.........without facts our children CANNOT begin to form their own opinions!!!! We Must give them facts so they may PUT THE FACTS TOGETHER TO FORM OPINIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!

You want to go with touchy feely?? How do you think touchy feely is formed??????

BY KNOWING FACTS!!!!!!!

We teach our children to think.

I would suggest his OPNION and belt should have some influence.

So Sorry..NV.. My point was the fear of the belt........ as I was lucky that my kids NEVER........ NEVER got spanked with a belt............. Just idle THREATS
