Just finished my last round of orals. I start the "baby dancing" on Feb 1st and continue until Feb 5th. After that, I am in the two week waiting period. I will find out if it worked around Feb 18th. I doubt it does because like an idiot I missed my last dose of orals. If it doesnt work I will start another IUI cycle on or about Feb 19th with a baseline sonogram, and then start orals on Feb 23 and continue until Feb 27th. On February 28th and the next five days, I will start the Bravelle injections (in my belly). On or about March 5th I will get my trigger shot and go in for the IUI procedure the very next day. Thats the next month's worth of news. I will let you know how it goes.

We wont be doing IVF, Suzy. Its only a 38% success rate (national average from the CDC). Its quite expensive and there isnt a 100% guarntee. If the IUI fails two or three times more, we will start the adoption process.

I think it's wonderful how well-informed you are. That's the very best way to approach the situation.

DG, you probably know about this study, but I couldn't help thinking of you when I read the following:

A study published in the journal Obstetrics & Gynecology --More than 18,500women found that those who consumed 77 MG of iron a day from food and supplements reduced their risk of infertility by 47%.

After spending thousands and thousands of dollars and facing very low success rates (and not to mention too many drugs and shots)we have come to a mutual decision to abort all further fertility treatments. We will hopefully start our adoption process next year or talk about living child free. Thanks to everyone who was supportive throughout this very difficult(very, very, very) and depressing journey.

I think that it is a wise decision although obviously a painful one.

I understand that the whole process on IVF etc is very stressful, hard on both the woman and her partner and with a small success rate.

I wish you every success with the process of adoption (if you choose that route)

Best Wishes DG, for either decision you choose! However, it would seem that "adoption" for you guys is a forgone conclusion. Since you both have been longing to be "parents" for such a long time now. Anyway, many people can be "biological" baby makers, but it takes a special kind of people such as yourselves, that would make Mom & Dad "parents"! :) Good Luck & Happiness to you both!

You have wayyy more courage than we do, DG. We sat down after several years of marriage and discussed the pros & cons, the difficulties & probable disappointments, and decided we weren't up to the challenge. We still love each other and have fun as a couple, but I have to admit there's a hole.

I salute your courage, and as one partly raised in foster care, want you to know that adoption is a special blessing beyond measure. :yh_flower

I have PCOS and have taken 12 rounds of Clomid, up to 100mg. I am also on metformin to control insulin reistance. Nothing has worked. We are still contemplating one last round with Clomid and the added injectable called Bravelle. THey are horrendous on my system...all men cover your eyes for this question:

CRazygal, when I take Clomid it dries out my CM so if I take it we have to have an IUI (intruterine insemination). CLomid by itself with natuarl intercourse wont work for me.

Thank you. Its so tough to be reminded of something you dont have ona daily basis. Everyone I know is pregnant, or delivered recently. Its tough. But when I bring home my adoptive baby it will be the same to me. We should start somewhere in the summer with the homestudy. We have to research some agencies first. The biggest issue is that most agencies are faith based and you have to sign a contract that you will raise the child in a certain church. I'm not to crazy about that part.

Oh so sorry to hear that. I was really lucky as it worked by itself. My sons dad's friend needed the injection with Clomid but had three children that way. I know how hard it is, it's heartbreaking and easy for me to say now I have kids but really don't give up.
