CBS Newsman Mike Wallace Arrested

Post by CVX »

NEW YORK - Veteran "60 Minutes" correspondent Mike Wallace was handcuffed and driven to a police station Tuesday night after arguing with city inspectors over where his driver had parked.

The dispute began at about 8:30 p.m., as Wallace was leaving a Manhattan restaurant, WCBS-TV reported. Wallace, 86, saw two inspectors interviewing his driver, who they said was double-parked.

The Taxi and Limousine Commission said Wallace became "overly assertive and disrespectful" and interfered with the inspectors, according to WCBS.

At one point, Wallace lunged at one of the inspectors, according to the commission. The other inspector then handcuffed Wallace and drove him to a police station, where he was issued a summons for disorderly conduct. He was later released.

Luigi Militello, the restaurant manager, told WCBS that the inspectors "manhandled" Wallace during the dispute.

CBS said in a statement Tuesday that Wallace was at home and that more information would be released if it became available.

Richard Leibner, a spokesman for Wallace, did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

Let's see! We had planes crashing across America on Sept 11-01 and everyone was on break-late for work--- or it wasn't their job to respond.

No real thought to, ho-hum, investigating how millions of tons of steel melted into a puddle in a few hours-with the crime scene (steel) shipped off to China within days to build up their military industrial complex.

How do a few Arabs, stumble out of a cave, speaking little to no English, make it to America, sign up for crop dusting lessons, buy a dozen or so $1.98 box cutters; and outwit trillions of dollars of defense weaponry, war rooms, James Bond spymasters, cameras, satellites, and thousands of "intelligence" personnel, from numerous agencies/ departments whose only job is to watch out for such characters?

The only time we seem to get updated on the newest threats to malls, conventions, the Old North Church, snow cone vendors, doormen, window washers, barmaids, shampoo girls, delivery men, dog walkers etc., is when a new video is found under another warm heaping of camel dung-lucky us.

That, or finding a laptop in some desert hut just, oops, inadvertently left behind with a bag of dates, a rotted camel harness, oil contracts, and GPS tracking devices. No matter that the supposed vital information is three years old, it is enough to mobilize our domestic TIPS teams, Ninja mutant warriors, in full body amour--$260,000 custom made personnel vehicles, with a "kicking sound system", concrete barriers, streets cleared, cages with razor wire built, for citizens who still have a semblance of critical thinking skills left, and snipers on rooftops, alert to the possibility, that momentarily, hordes of Arabs with box cutters, will stampede past the Boston Common, on to New York's financial district, New Jersey transfer stations, taking their final stand in Foggy Bottom.

Here amongst the marbled statuary of past conquests, brooding granite heroes, the refurbished phallic monument, a weeping wall, the flutter of flags made in China, the homeless slumbering on steam grates, the AIDS quilt on the mall etc., our Pickets charge- Normandy- moment will reach its climatic crescendo.

Of course, there's been some misinformation, miscommunication, and agencies not sharing vital information once again! It seems that the CIA didn't answer the phone from the FBI, and they in turn didn't tell the guys in the field, the White House, the Security Council, nor the Pentagon; that Arabs are not grandma's in flowered hats, union workers, bankers, nine foot puppets, students with signs and drums, Walmart greeters, Home Depot Associates, bankers, receptionists, nor news- casters!

The Keystone Caper continues on. It seems that Mike Wallace, age 86 was legitimately mistaken for the elusive Bin-Laden, dialysis machine missing, when he was arrested in New York City on Tues, Aug 10-2004. With security on high alert, citizens clutching their plastic sheeting and duct tape, apprehensively to their chests, watched as "disrespectful and overly assertive", frail Mr.Wallace (of 60 Minutes fame) hastily tried to hide his left over meatloaf sandwich in his suit pocket.

Not to be taken off-guard this time, with a possible repeat of 9-11, Mike's skeletal wrists, were quickly shackled, and the streets were once again safe, as he was hastily driven off to the Ministry of Truth. What was Mike's crime? Mr. Wallace had just left a Manhattan restaurant and got into a dispute with two inspectors (TIPS patrol) from the Taxi and Limousine Commission, who it seems have been specially trained in "crime think". Mike, all 90 lbs of him, apparently "lunged at one of the inspectors" in the midst of being "disrespectful". There were no excuses for this senior citizen having forgotten that, "to do anything that suggested a taste for solitude, even to go for a walk by yourself, was always slightly dangerous. There was a word for it in Newspeak: Ownlife". Orwell-1984

Citizens much better programmed in "blackwhite" (the ability to accept whatever 'truth' the party puts out), tucked their ever-ready civil defense materials (plastic sheeting-duct tape) under their arms and shuffled off into the nearby shadows and alleyways with "crimestop" (stopping short of any dangerous thought) protecting them from any emotional concern of what might happen to Mr.Wallace.

There was no-one to hear Mike's feeble mutterings as he was "manhandled" and disappeared" Under the spreading chestnut tree I sold you and you sold me. There lie they, and here lie we under the spreading chestnut tree" Orwell-1984

"It was curious to think that the sky was the same for everybody, in Eurasia or Eastasia as well as here. And the people under the sky were also very much the same---everywhere, all over the world, hundreds or thousands of millions of people just like this, people ignorant of one another's existence, held apart by WALLS of hatred and lies, and yet almost exactly the same----people who had never learned to THINK but were storing up in their hearts and bellies and muscles the power that would one day overturn the world". Book Two, Chapt: 10-1984
