Another Target???

Post by cars »

Can this new building below become the next major target for terrorists, what a big feather in their cap it could be for them? :-2 WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS???

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (March 30) - is building the world's tallest building on the desert sands, its pilings are already in place, plunging 160 feet into the earth. When it's finished, visitors will swoon over this city from 123 stories high, if not more. (Possibly as many as 189)

The building will be completed in 2008, & cost $900 million dollars.

Current skyscrappers Stretching Into the Sky:

Today's Tallest

Taipei 101, in Taiwan has 101 floors and reaches 1,670 feet.

The Runner-Up

The Petronas Towers 1 and 2 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, are each 1,483 feet.

America's King

At 1,450 feet, Chicago's Sears Tower was the world's tallest building from 1973 to 1996.

Tallest Tower

Toronto's CN Tower reaches 108 higher into the sky than Taipei 101, thanks to its antenna.

The Original

Egypt's Great Pyramid of Giza was the tallest structure in the world for 43 centuries. Then the Eiffel Tower was built in 1889.

It was said, this new building supposidly would withstand an airliner strike of the sort that brought down the steel-frame World Trade Center.

I think if we keep building, bigger and better, it's a way of saying "Screw you" to the terrorists. It could be a target, yes, but then, so could just about any other building if they put their minds to it. Build the biggest damn skyscraper they can, I say.

I completely agree with BR. Build our best and build into the skies. What's the ultimate alternative? Build underground?? That day may well arrive for some of the world's inhabitants but until then the sky is the limit. 9/11 was ONE attack.
"Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group that believes you can do these things. Among them are a few Texas millionaires, or businessman from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid." The building in Dubai is not a likely target for terrorists in my view, nor is the building in Kuala Lumpor. Too many Muslims involved in the occupancy and building of both structures. Terrorists are not going to alienate Muslims if they can help it. U.S. buildings are more likely.
