Pond ideas

I want to put a new pond liner in this year and am wondering whether I should raise the pond edge about one foot, ie a raised pond. I wonder if anyone has any experience with such a style. I would be interested in the pros and cons. I am in an area where the temperature can go down to minus 20 at worst, but stays around just below freezing as a norm. This past couple of weeks it has been minus 8. Thanks, Jenni

Hi Jenni,

I'll attach two links that may help you find an answer about this. Do you have fish in your pond - and if you do - does your pond completely freeze in the winter?

A lot of people raise their ponds a little to keep the dirt from running in - and to keep the water from wicking out. That shouldn't be a problem.
