Pinky, that is a real classy piece of writing. A tender lament, all the more powerful as the thinly veiled hurt peeps through. It stands up alongside anything I've ever read. :yh_hugs
Here's a work in progress:
Heathcliff...it's me..oh Krammy etc
Gettin' the picture?

Your words are so moving
They make me think of life's possibilities

Agh, I hate getting into that frame of mind, but I seem to write better when I'm in 'one of those'!
Luckily it never lasts that long.

You might as well embrace that part of you
as it is part of what makes you YOU
I wish I had the ability to express myself through poetry
but alas, I do not
That is why I admire that quality so much in you :-4

When I read your poems
I realize that there are parts of you that I don't know
Which is nice
Because you and I are kinda 'open books'
It's good to keep a little piece of yourself for yourself :-6

Although since being part of FG, I've found that I've softened up a lot and find it much easier to let people in than I did. I suppose part of the clowning around is part of the wall, if you know what I mean!
Still, I'll never give up clowning around, it's far too much fun. :-6
Me too. It's a big part of who I am.
I'm better at giving support than asking for it. :-6

Memories of summer
This is my favourite Pinky poem. I think it's quite profound:
Roses are red
Violets are blue
Some poems rhyme
And some don't

Some poems rhyme
And some don't

Memories of summer
One day PM me where you post 'em Pinky, I like them alot. I think you know where I post mine all the time.
I post mine elsewhere most of the time-well, alot of the time. You keep posting them, and writing them.
I wrote mine for a couple of years, until I sent them out to be published. Now I have 4 published, and send them out all the time.
I find in between writing long history lectures and journal stuff, an hour or two spent writing a good poem is more then fun. It is a fulfillment of the inner spirit. You have that need within you to write, and you must write. You are happy when you do. And I think many of us appreciate them. (Unc' was just cracking a joke, he loves you dearly) I write because it is a release from the life I live here, and the type of poetry I write is in forms and I know it is different from yours. But all forms of poetry have their own voice that needs to be heard.
FG is always home base for me, I am always here. It is where my heart and friends are.

Pinky, it is your inner soul speaking in your poems, and write them you must. You would not be given the gifts of writing, if not to put them on paper. (or computer)
Do not ever be discouraged about it, or you just send me a PM! I will want to read every poem you send me, and applaud it. For it is you, peeking out between the words, the real Pinky. Yes, it is hard to put them on display for others to see. But we all love you dearly, and would not say anything against them.
Since I write mostly form poetry, haiku is my favorite one: this one is for you, Pinky.

I bare my soul and you take the ****..oh yeah. That'll be why.
I need someone to stop me taking myself too seriously:rolleyes:
It takes a lot for me to post my stuff here, and even more for me not to go and delete most of it the next day.
I'll think before I post next time.
In fact, I won't post here next time.
I felt like I was in a place where I could trust others with my feelings.
Obviously not.
Ths just reafirms my orginal thougts...not to let people in so easily.
Thanks for re-affirming that for me.
Hey Pinky :yh_hugs :yh_hugs
As you yourself said, it's hard to give up clowning around...it's too much fun. I'm afraid that I'm so shallow, there isn't much else to me. The problem of course is whether or not it's fun for someone else, and clearly on this occasion I have to hold my hands up and say my ill-judged efforts to lighten the mood fell on stony ground. For that, I truly apologise. I know that my humour is normally entwined with a couple of spoonfuls of sardonic wit, but on this occasion, for me at least it was absent. I know your poem captures an emotive issue for you which is why my initial post applauds the work for the exquisite use of language that it is, and I can only reiterate that. I hope that you will come to see that my interjection of the limerick was really just a measure of my affection for you and was in no way delivered as an attempt to walk over your poem or your feelings. As for letting me in, I feel that we are twins of spirit and would seek a caution for a first offence. You should not think twice before posting next time. I, on the other hand will endeavour to tailor my output to the mood. Once again I'm sorry mate and I will try not to let you down again

I really am sorry...I hope you can forgive me for being a total idiot.

I say the following with love
KNOCK IT OFF! :-5
You deserve our love because you give *so much* of it to all of us
We love you unconditionally, no matter what sides of you you share with us
Isn't that what *true* friendship is all about? :-6

Memories of summer
Pinky wrote: It happened by chance
accidental, nothing more.
A summer of stolen time
remembered evermore.
From the moment I saw you;
saw you glancing my way
your eyes said far more
than your words could ever say;
Your lips uttered notions
that your eyes would betray
the heavens within them
could blow me away.
I believed that there was a chance for us,
that love overcame all things
you let me believe it was so;
Hope died on broken wings.
Drifting on the tide of memories now,
I let myself think of you once more.
I have erased all physical traces
of the one I still adore.
Our last meeting was brief, to be sure
that light in your eyes gone, put out.
You have him, I have her you said;
neither can leave, of that there's no doubt.
The summer of warmth,
Summer of love
the summer I learnt
What's below is above.
I hear you in the wind
I see you in the sky, the stars, the sun.
I hear you in songs, remembering
the one that stole my heart is gone.
I haven't bothered to read all the threads connected with this poem, I find it quite haunting - melancholic, maybe. You have a natural flow. I like it.
