The boys in blue showed up today. I dropped them a quick line while hiding out in the bathroom that all 3 of them were there, and gram and gramps were drinking. They came up to me and my waitress first. Asked us a few questions about them, then went to the couple. They took them out into the vestibule and had a long talk with them, unfortunately, none of which I got to hear. They came back in, finished their beers and left. I have no idea what was said, what might be done, how badly Tom and Dee were scared or anything.

I have no idea what is going to happen next, if anything. :-5

LC? Suggestions? Ideas? Thoughts?

Thoughts?...as i said before. the cops can't do anything unless a crime is taking place. but DCF is mandated to investigate within 24 hours. the cops may have called DCF however. if these two jerkwads keep coming in with the child i'll be surprised. but if they're that stupid and thoughtless and moronic they'll find another bar.

Well it seems "they" were not scared out of their witts, & they were not arrested on the spot, so things will have to play out! It will be interesting to see what happens in the next few days, to see if they "all" come back into your bar. And if they don't, then that could just mean that maybe they found themselves a new watering hole! Keep us posted, K.:-2

I would have to agree with most of the people here. I would call.

If you think about it. Did they raise thier children up like this? And if they did look how they turned out. Not putting the child first at all. None of them.

But just because he is fed and clean looking doesnot mean anything. I know of people who keep thier children clean and fed but then they will beat the crap out of them for no reason and i mean really beat them. What does being clean or fed have anything to do with what is right or wrong.

They put that child in danger every day and just beacause that child happens to be just 5 years old doesn't mean that he can not be influenced now.

I would call definitely. Is there any other relatives that do not attend daily bars around or would take him?

If there is then that might be a solution. At least he would be with family.

Now that a month has passed, I am curious as to how this has played out? It seems the grandparents do not have the best interest of the child in thier minds. It is too bad when rich folks think money can buy anything..including the right to do as they please with an innocent child.

I have to wonder how this child will be when he is an adult. Druggies for parents, drunks for grandparents. Such rolemodels. Makes me want to strangle these people. If the cops need to "see" them commiting a crime, how about waiting till they leave the bar with the kid in tow...to drive home. Hmm..lets see DWI, endangering the welfare of a child.:-5

Marie, thank you for bumping this thread. With so many other things going on, I'd forgotten about it. The fact that I have not seen Charlie in the bar since I called was also a factor in me forgetting about it.

I do not know what actions have been taken, as I did decide to remain anonymous, but I do know that the little boy has not been in my bar since the police confronted Grandma and Grandpa.

There was a lot of rumor floating around that it was me who'd called, and in the interest of preserving my job, I played dumb, and even got in one guy's face for "spreading rumors", and gave him a piece of my mind about minding his own business. :sneaky:
