First Car
Just curious to find who out there has and fond - or not so fond memories - of their first car. I recall my first was a 1971 Triumph Spitfire Mark III. It looked great, but with its electrical system by Lucas - AKA the Prince of darkness - it was nororiously unreliable. On the up side, I did save a lot of gas with the beast 'cause it was in the garage every other weekend being fixed.
The one thing that did work properly was the heater which seemed to have only two settings, roast and cremate. It was powerful enough that on a sub zero winter day you could fire up the blast furnace and drive around with the top down in complete comfort. The only thing you had to watch out for was truckers who chewed tobacco!

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body
but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting, "HOLY CRAP! WHAT A RIDE!"

Much to the amusement of all my mates I had a bright green citroen 2cv. My favourite was a Dailmer 2.5 saloon, the daimler version of the inspector morse jag

I look back fondly on my first car! It was an ugly 1971 Toyota Corolla Station Wagon. Oh - and the color? How about a faded "baby blue". It had compression in 3 of the 4 cyclinders, a cracked steering wheel and had the smell of a 1954 Ford that sat in the sun for too many years.
Ahhhh...memories....

My first car was a bright blue Toyota Corolla. The floorboards had rusted out, so I had plywood for flooring, covered by mats. It was so much fun driving in puddles and in slush - especially at top speeds!
It was a 4-speed, so it was quite a trick to coast through a puddle and pull up my legs, popping her into neutral, and then guessing when it was safe to use the clutch again. LOL.

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.

My first car was a TRUCK!! Hey, girls can have trucks, too!
"Got my first truck when I was three did a hunnerd thousand miles
on my knees... hauled marbles and rocks and thought twice before
I hauled a Barbie doll bed for the girl next door..."
Well, okay, it was the truck I learned to drive in. '56 Dodge. (Okay
so it was a few years old before I started driving it!) :driving:
The first car that I OWNED all by myself, not my Dad or a SO, was my
1986 Honda Accord LX. Now there was a beauty in every way. She
got totalled by a drunk driver, so now I'm back to a TRUCK.
Truck truck truck. I love my truck.

GMC - God I miss those "Chicken Hutch" windows and the air con system which was a big knob (fnaar, fnaar) that you turned that simply opened two hatches on the bonnet and let the wind blow straight through.

A colleague of my dad's bought that car almost 9 years ago now and its still running, with over 250,000 miles on the clock. Rock on, Japanese quality.
It was made in newcastle, first one from the new plant. Geordie power.

My first car was a 1968 firebird that I purchased in 1970 when I was 19.All of my older sons drove it to their Proms and in the home coming parades. I sold it in 1999. Sure do miss her.

The first NEW car we got after I got married was a '92 Pathfinder. Bought it on Guam, shipped it to the Germany, drove it on the Autobahn. I sure loved that vehicle. (It was registered as a station wagon, but you can bet I refered to it as a truck!) NOT many Nissan dealers in Germany back then, so that girl drove for years without an oil change or a tune up! I sure loved that thing! Cried when it died.
My first car was a 1967 Chevy Nova. It was rust and blue, the rust being actual rust. Had it for a week and totalled it hitting a fire hydrant! Then I had a 1972 Ford Galaxy. Got rearended on Thanksgiving day. Major damage to the back end but I drove it for months afterwards, after we pried the wheelwell out of the tire.

A 1982 2 toned, cream/sh_t brown Chevy Citation!!! Luckily the first time I drove it, someone rear-ended me totalling it out! Then I moved "up" to a fancy red Ford Escort w/ a faulty gas gauge..............and also always died when going downhill!!!! LOL Did have a cool black interior (stylin for back then!) and an awesome stereo!!!
