Seems to be a big fat media circus and who is the ring leader. Poor Terri, I think us living can honestlly say we would never ever want to have our lives or lack of lives turned into such a media fiasco. Seems a real attention grabber for both her parents and her husband. It never should have been brought to the public attention. How dare they violate Terri like that. Bless her and her emminint passing and may she find a place where she is better off than some of those she leaves behind.

The whole this just makes me sad. I'm sure Terri wouldn't have wanted to live in her present conditions. Then again I'm sure she wouldn't have wanted to die this way either. No dignity in being starved to death.. Just a sad, sad thing.. :-1 :-1

You know I don't care if she doesn't feel a damn thing.. She is still a human being she should be treated better period. There is no reason to starve her to death none what so ever. Leave the feeding tube out, give her water at least, morphine, and let her die on her own.

Carla, I know you feel strongly about this, (Mostly because you are a good person and can't stand to see any suffering.) but then so do I

I saw some x-rays of her brain the other day. Most of it has atrophied. There is a large resevoir of fluid where her frontal lobes were...where much of the higher function takes place. The doctors say her EEG, her brainwave pattern, is a complete flatline. No thoughts whatsoever.

No ideas, no feelings, no pain, nothing.....Just the primitive brain stem faithfully pumping blood and drawing breaths. It's like a train on a track without an engineer, still following the tracks but with no direction.

Trust me, she's not suffering...the soul, the part that was really Terri, left that body and went to God a long, long time ago. I'm sorry this whole thing upsets you, it gets to me too.

Val...you may have missed my earlier post...Terri's father put out flyers offering video of her for $100. a whack. i have lost all respect for him. she would have been mortified and saddened over that. she cared how she looked. and michael could have obtained a divorce long ago, why didn't he?

The fight isn't over. Coming from CNN. this morning. The parents of terri reappeal to the 11th circut late last night. when CNN asked for comment from george felio's the attonery to Micheal schiavio he told them he didn't even know about it. Last night on greta a repoter told greta that Felios likes to talk in the spirit with people he has represented that are in a Veggy state. The book he has is called soul speak. ok there is definally something wrong with that man.

OH MY GOD, let's let the poor woman go. Just allow her peace to escape this whole escapade. I hope she comes back as a scientist and can probe these peoples brains and insert little micro chips and can control them with tiny electrical shocks when ever she pleases. Gawd this seems to no longer be about her but about who can make a bigger ass of themselves to the media. GROW UP Give Terri what she rightfully deserves. Fox now reports Terri's parents go back to the supreme court. I think as much as I believe the tube shouldn't have been removed. That she should be let go. It really pains me to say this. But everyone knows this will be futile thing to do. I just hope when everything said and done. Her husband and the courts will be justicefied in what they did. Because I know I would personally like to see them all prescuted and suied for this to full extent of the law if they wrong.,

Though it's been a rough and testy subject, we've all been a part of a drama that has profound implications. This is the kind of thought provoking question that gets results in the end. It's the kind of thing that moves people. Moves them to make changes. How many here, went out to get living wills? How many here, started contemplating future plans? We all have shared in the tragedy of one womans life. What more of a memorial can one person want? Whether she knows it or not, Terri Shiavo has touched peoples lives, all over the world. Just on this site alone. We all here, IMO, have done honor to her cause. We all here, have defended her, in one way or another. She has managed to touch us all. What greater gift can one human bestow upon another? And so we all stand vigilant, whether willing or not, to see this through to the end. She is not alone. I'm proud of this thread. It stands for humanity, mercy, and justice. At the very least, a few people got a few more hugs and 'I love you's because of it! And that my friends, is down to the life of, or lack therein of one Terri Shiavo.

Well said Raven.. we have bumped heads a couple of times in this thread but I must admit, I have learned something from our exchanges. I do hope that more people take advantage of living wills (did my long ago) and make the appropriate plans in case they end up in this condition.

Of course, I can't let the media go unscathed in this situation. It has been a disgusting display of yellow journalism that would have old Mr. Hearst's heart pumping with joy if he was still around. The play by play analysis was nothing sort of sickening. Fueled by the parents and right to life organizations headed by that upstanding paragon Randall Terry their displays of dispassionate grief were nothing sort of ultra hyporcritical considering the death and bomb threats that have been flying thru the air lately. Thier true colors are flying high and wide for everyone to see. The Rev. Jesse's appearance in the later stages of the battle was nothing short of sensationalism. His crediblity disappeared when he decided to do the humpty bump with an aide.. while counciling a fromer presidentail sexaholic on the morals of being a leader .. please .. can't he just go away..

And thru the whole thing no one expressed what was best for Terri, but what they thought was best. Totally disgusting..

Anyway.. I kinda got off the subject there..

All I can say is make your wishes known, get everything in writing and send you thoughts to Terri. She is prolly looking at this mess going I am gonna haunt everyone of them till the day they die....

I'm a freelance documentary photographer wishing to create a body of work concerning euthanasia. My objective is to produce a series of portaits of those who are termionally ill and who are either considering or would consider euthanasia as a viable option or agree with the idea in principle. The images would be accompanied with a comment by the sitter highlighting their views, opinions and experiences.

The primary aim of this work is to promote the issue of euthanasia through positive exposure of real life experiences.

I am based in Bristol but would be willing to travel anywhere in the UK and possibly abroad to meet and photograph those who would be interested in helping to change the law concerning euthanasia as it stands today.
