this is an ongoing situation jan. 10, 1400, two hostages still inside bank.

KISSIMMEE, Fla. Ã¢â‚¬ Two suspected robbers took hostages Tuesday inside a bank near :siteSearch('Walt Disney World');">Walt Disney World, later freeing one of them after negotiating with sheriff's deputies, authorities said.

At least one more hostage remained inside the :siteSearch('Mercantile Bank');">Mercantile Bank early in the afternoon; sheriff's spokeswoman Twis Lizasuane declined to say whether there could be more.

However, she said deputies believe no one inside has been hurt, and the suspects have said they don't intend to harm anyone.

The :siteSearch('Osceola County');">Osceola County Sheriff's Office said the released hostage was in good condition, but did not say whether he was a bank customer or employee.

The robbery at Mercantile Bank started at about 9:30 a.m. The standoff snarled traffic after deputies cordoned off the scene, a mile west of Walt Disney World in Osceola County's tourist corridor.

Calls to the bank were routed to a Mercantile call center, where a woman said she had no additional information.

The same bank was robbed Nov. 16, and investigators are still looking for two suspects, but deputies don't think the two incidents are connected, Lizasuane said.

Oh boy. I hope the hostages are safe. I hope they hang the robbers by their toes over an alligator infested pond.

this is info i just got, the robbers took the hostage and tried to get away in a vehicle.:driving: the police shot the tires out and took them into custody, freeing the hostage. it's been a long day for the sheriff dept. there, and for those hostages. ....now it's 'gator time!

my last information was not accurate...here is update---they did need the sniper Tombstone!

Police surround the parking area where they shot one robber and freed the last hostage.

A 10-hour standoff with two armed bank robbers near Walt Disney World, Florida, ended after police fatally shot one suspect and arrested the other, authorities said. The robbers escaped from the bank with one hostage, but were cornered in their getaway car. Three hostages were released by the robbers during the standoff and the last captive was rescued after the shooting. Osceola County Sheriff Bob Hansell said the male suspect was shot when he "used the hostage again as a shield to get into another vehicle."

Wow! The police did a great job! Amazing that the bad guys did not try to take out one or two of the hostages.
