I love the Ronettes, and as a young teen saw them many times in person. Thanks for the memory Orion.

Yeah, they're from your stompin' grounds, aren't they, Anne?

Thought I posted this yesterday, don't know why this popped into my mind immediately on seeing the Ronettes.
"Freight Train" was a coffee bar we used to frequent in the 60's in swinging London.
I thought I knew more than this until I opened my mouth

When I was really young, My parents were music lovers. They had a marvelous collection of recordings from the 40s and mom had the record player going most of the day as she did chores and such.
my early years were filled with Glenn Miller Benny Goodman, Arty Shaw, Tommy Dorsey, and the like.

Is this thread anything to do with Da Do Ron Ron? Or was that not what The Ronettes came from.

When flower power came along I stood for Human Rights, marched around for peace and freedom, had some nooky every night - we took it serious.

I remember when this first came out one of the most evocative anti-war songs ever written IMO.
Eric bogle also wrote the band played waltzing matilda.

Da Do Ron Ron was by the Crystals. While I loved that song, here is my favorite one from them, a song all girls can relate to:

When I was in our harmony dance trio (back in the day LOL), we played a gig at a place called The Coalville Miners Welfare, and we were the back-up band to the Ray McVay Orchestra. I can remember saying to the orchestra's drummer as he unloaded all his kit and put it on the massive stage - "How many are in the band ?" to which he replied "Oh, 4 musicians and 25 vocalists !" and gave me a big grin. He wasn't joking either, because towards the end of the evening when everybody was up and dancing and really giving it 'charlie big potatoes', the instrumentalists downed their instruments except for the basic four and did a James Last with all but the four basic musicians, standing at the front of the stage singing. They were a very good band. But they were not James Last although they came a fairly good second !

Just looking at all the music peeps are putting up here . it's reminded me of my mum and her telling me as a teenager (in reference to my taste in music) that I was born twenty years too late and in the wrong country. lol I was born in the dawn of Aquarius so missed all the good stuff.
