When the llibdems held the balance of power in 2010 they could have made proportional representation a condition of their support instead they went on to coalition with the tories. Now they have paid the price for that stupidity I think they are dead as a political force.
Only 43% of the electorate support the tories yet they have an overwhelming majority in parliament only a deluded plank could call that democratic.
Looks like northern ireland as well as scotland will be leaving the UK in the imminernt future.

Scots voted for the pro-EU SNP, but are to be ruled by a Tory government hellbent on a hard Brexit.
Surely reasonable onlookers would conclude that the mandate for indyref2 has been strengthened.
"Step forward, the Scottish Tories.

According to them, the SNP do not in fact have good cause for pushing for a second plebiscite … because they did not secure more than 50% of the popular vote.
That argument comes unstuck, however, when it is applied to Boris Johnson’s government and its mandate to push through the PM’s Brexit deal.
Tory MSP Dean Lockhart was taught that lesson live on air by STV’s Bernard Ponsonby.
🔥 Bernard Ponsonby eviscerates Scottish Tory's anti-democratic argument on Scottish independence.
💻 Fact check: SNP have won a higher percentage of the vote in Scotland than the Tories won UK-wide, and won 8 times the Tories number of seats in Scotland. pic.twitter.com/CItUD9NUPf

And as it turns out, the SNP actually won a higher vote share in Scotland than the Tories did in the UK as a whole. "
Sorry smillies and quotes do not work for some reason.

It does make a mockery of our democracy doesn’t it.
Then again, having one vote to give your opinion on Brexit, the NHS, education, austerity, ... You voted for us (actually, I didn’t) therefore we have a mandate for all of our policies! Whatever it is it’s not democracy.

Couldn't agree more and now we have a prime minister who does notbelieve parliament should be the sovereign power in the uk and will dissolve it should they happen to get in his way.
I think you will see both Northern Ireland and Scotland demanding referenda on independence.
