It becomes for Christians the Word of God because God seems to speak to them through the the Bible" It is not histordy and it is not a divinely inspired book. It is primarily a religious book. Several sources were used in putting it together thus you have 2 creation stories and 2 Noah storiesplus others. All of the creative dancing in the world will not change that.

My interpretation of Genesis is a metaphor for an explanation of how an adolescent goes through puberty. Pre-pubescent they were naked & unashamed - just as kids are. Then puberty starts to kick in & they start to ask questions (eating of the fruit from the tree of knowledge). That's when they recognise the changing in their bodies & want to cover themselves. Once they start wanting to know more they can never be happy as they'll always want to know more - the casting out of the Garden of Eden. Every bit of the story complies with what every parent will have witnessed, and what every one of us has been through.

Wow! Hans Kung is dead wrong. The Bible IS the word of God and God does speak through it. God has also spoken to me through song before. At this new Church I am at. I was sitting in the pew and not paying much attention. I saw something out of the corner of my eye. As I looked, my spirit saw a hand pointing to the hymn book and then it moved from the hymn book to my chest. It happened a couple of times. I looked over at the hymn book and as we sang, I saw the finger pointing to every word on the page as they were being sung. It was as if God was speaking directly to me through the song. It was amazing. There aren't 2 creation stories, there is one and then the second part is a more detailed telling of the event focusing on different details. There is no creative dancing other than what you are doing.

I can see it clearly now. In the beginning there was nothing. Then nothing created a creator, then there still was nothing, so the new creator started creating 5hit. First he made light, because is was still dark. A little while later he made the sun and the moon and what he called the stars. He got that one arse about. Stupid, stupid god.
What I can't see clearly though, is why he created germs and bacteria to make us sick and perhaps kill us. Wouldn't it be a better idea to send a flood every now and again?
